Gold Rush Grille — Restaurant in Sacramento

It's a cafeteria on the second floor of a state building, that caters to state workers. The layout is dull and drab, and there are self service dispensers for soft drinks, a cooler or two stocked with cold items, and a grill where you can get sandwiches and fried sides made to order, or you can order the daily special, which is an adventure. On my visit, the special was lasagna. Two versions were available: a "red," made with marinara sauce and ground beef, and a "green" -- or perhaps they called it "white," made with chicken and green enchilada sauce. Being a courageous eater, I chose the green. It came with a piece of garlic bread. It was good! With a bottled drink I think I paid $16. I've had worse meals often in downtown Sac! This was an adequate spot to hang out with 1 to 3 friends or colleagues, if you live or work within walking distance. It's not an experience you'll be satisfied with if you have to use a vehicle to get there. ...

What a hidden gem! In this day and age it’s almost impossible to find a good meal for $10 or less. Im almost hesitant to post this review as I don’t want this place to blow up. Haha.

The Goldrush Grille is hidden in the Secretary of State building and you need a state ID to get in. It’s unassuming with a cafe style ordering system.

I’ve gotten the burger and chicken sandwich and both are tasty and filling. They don’t skimp on sides, either. The onion rings are bomb. The only odd thing is they don’t add any spreads - it’s all condiment packets. But you can ask for BBQ sauce if you want.

There’s plenty of seating with window views. It can get busy during rush hours, but they are pretty efficient at turning out food.

I love Gold Rush Grille! I've been eating there for 3 years now and I've never, not once, been disappointed. The cook is super nice! All the staff is friendly. Food comes out fairly quick, although if you're strapped for time I definitely recommend calling ahead to place your order. I'd say call-in orders normally take about 20 minutes TOPS, like max if they're super busy - and they do get busy (because they're that good 😉)! I would and do...
