Café Xocolatl in Midtown Sacramento is my new favorite spot! This trendy and healthy café is a gem, offering a refreshing and delightful experience. Evan, the manager, is simply amazing and took excellent care of us, ensuring we had a wonderful time.

I had the mint shake and the tamale, and both were absolutely delicious! The mint shake was incredibly tasty without being overloaded with sugar – a perfect balance of refreshing minty goodness. The tamale was fresh and bursting with flavor, and the house sauce elevated it to a whole new level.

Delicious bananita chocomil ($9). Vegan empanadas ($6.95). I recommend the "beef" and onion over the spinach mushroom for a flavorful filling. The dough was a little thin and soggy, but I understand they are from an empanada shop off-site. Espresso was the most affordable item ($3) and good. Unfortunately, none of the chocolate bars or drinking chocolate are in my budget ($11.99-17.99++). Quick and friendly service. No wifi and no electrical outlets, so THIS IS NOT A WORK CAFÉ. What a great downtown spot! I spent the morning museum hopping with my partner, and Café Xocolatl is barely five minutes from Capitol Mall. They had a lovely selection of sweet treats, teas, coffees, and healthful beverages. I selected a cozy slice of banana bread (with whole sliced bananas) and a rich, refreshing cold brew. The space is a little tight for a walker or wheelchair, but there is ample seating outside that us rather accommodating. We enjoyed out light snack aside a young family, and their two small children were mesmerized by the beautiful dessert case.
