A great park is a signpost of a thriving community and Roosevelt Park is one of Sacramento's best. This small park effectively serves it niche in the community by offering basketball courts, softball/kickball fields, and yes, even an outdoor gym.
Not all parks need to be elaborately grand. It is best to evaluate a park on whether it is used and valued by it's community, and in that regard, Roosevelt Park covers all its bases. It's utilitarian, egalitarian, and just plain fun.
Roosevelt Park offers a space for people to interact with each other and actually be a community. The people that frequent it are very friendly and welcoming. It's safe and peaceful, even so at night.
