I've been in this hotel for almost a week and this is the first time I ate breakfast here. Vinings is currently being served thru Dawson's. Up to this point, everyone has been very accommodating in spite of renovation adjustments. However this morning it was a different experience.
Lyle (asked someone for his name - no name tag) who originally was going to take our order, was quite short and abrasive. I jokingly stated that we weren't ready because we just found out there were no waffles. He didn't respond very positively and mumbled something about renovations and a limited menu and walked away. He walked by later and I said "we're ready to order now". He quipped, Alyssa will be out to ..." and kept walking. Alyssa who appeared to be assigned to a completely separate part of the restaurant (front), came back to our section (back) just for our table. She was very accommodating and made sure to come back and check on us.
Good thing the food was great. Given the area, I expect higher prices but the service should be top tier to match. But give it a try, as long as you get Alyssa for your waitress or maybe catch Lyle on a good day.
I don't know why Lyle was so short, borderline rude but I have to say it has been the worst experience here thus far. Maybe he was having a bad day or took my disappointment with the unavailability of waffles personally. shrugs
Alyssa provided great service and help save the experience. However, I don't think I'll eat in Dawson's/Vinings for the...
Read moreAll round there's work to be done here. At the hostess desk we waited for about 5 minutes with almost everyone coming by saying they would be right with us. After being seated the place was more than half full. Sunday morning brunch time. Service was a bit slow. It's bacon and eggs, fruit and my wife had avocado toast. Her meal looked like it had come out of a box. The toast was some kind of flat bread. The avocado looked like a guacamole mix and not fresh. They don't have fresh juices. The couple 2 tables down from us were enjoying their fruit bowls when we first sat down. We took our time but we kept hearing their server mention that their food is coming. I could see they were fuming, we had already paid our bill when their food finally arrived. Speaking of paying the bill I went to the hostess desk to pay it as there was a delay in our server showing up. I might as well have been asking the host how to fly to Mars. Claims they can't access the servers tables and I have to wait for my...
Read moreExtremely disappointing experience, especially for what’s supposed to be a “star” restaurant.
I’m a vegetarian and always check menus in advance to ensure there are good options. I love food and enjoy exploring different cuisines. My spouse and son brought me here for a Mother’s Day surprise, only to find that the restaurant had changed the menu that very morning—with just 2 or 3 main options available. None were appealing for someone like me who enjoys variety and thoughtful preparation.
To make matters worse, there were flies in the restaurant. The pace of service was painfully slow—like watching snails race. The only redeeming factor was our server, who genuinely tried to help by adjusting a few items for us. They deserve credit for that.
Still, the overall experience was far from acceptable. Definitely not worth the hype. I will never return and cannot...
