11 Chicks restaurant truly stands out as a gem for anyone craving traditional Venezuelan cuisine. Starting from humble beginnings, this eatery has experienced a modest expansion, making its mark in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg. However, the cozy interior means seating can be quite limited, so it's a wise move to get there early, especially if you're planning to visit for lunch.
While I was there, it was evident that 11 Chicks enjoys a strong patronage, especially for takeout orders. The diversity of their clientele was striking, ranging from construction workers in their gear to professionals in business attire, all eagerly waiting to pick up their meals. This speaks volumes about the place's appeal across different groups.
Now, let's talk about the highlight - the food. Calling it delicious would be an understatement; it's a flavor-packed experience that leaves you wanting more. Each dish served is hot, fresh, and made to order, a clear indication that they don't compromise on quality with pre-made ingredients that sit around for hours. This meticulous attention to freshness and taste makes 11 Chicks a must-visit spot in downtown St. Pete. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and add this restaurant to your list of places...
Read moreStarted off ordering the three arepa sliders. Got a weird look and was told to build my own instead. So I built 3 arepas per the steps on the sign: "1) Choose arepa: I chose plain, 2) select meat: I chose beef 3) add eggs: I said fine I guess 4) add a side: I chose plátano and I added one order of tequeños"
Arepas came with the plátano INSIDE of them (I've never seen this happen in my life and I'm Maracucha), they added cheese and sauce, and it must have been the rancid oil that upset the stomach of my family and I. The price($72) did not match the quality of food-even after the lady took off $12.50 for the eggs(bringing it down to $50). I can easily make 4-5 arepas same size that aren't bland or cooked with rancid oil for $20 or less at home complete with beef, eggs, tequeños, and more than six maduros(ON THE SIDE.)
I really wish I could have provided a 5 star review because they are sweet people for providing the discount and variety of Venezuelan food options but not worth the price gauging or foodborne illness. As a note to owner, you should only use good oil on ALL the food for the price. And also, update the price range on Google to $$$$ not $. $72 is just not worth it. But the...

Which leads to rule Rule #2: check your to-go orders for missing items.
Can’t stress enough- love the food, but the service is terrible. I ordered at 11:44 and then decided to leave and asked for a refund at 12:45 because they had missed/forgotten half of my order when it came out at 12:13 and I caught it. The clerk out front was apologetic and kept reassuring me the remainder of my order was “up next” but about 10 more orders came out immediately after- none of which were mine. Meanwhile, the phone was ringing off the hook and only 50% or leas are getting answered since the clerk was too busy tending to the queue in front of him. Very chaotic, inefficient atmosphere.
I had other places to be, so I ended up having to leave and asked for a refund. He only gave me back the base value of my order when I should have demanded more- tax and tip since they certainly DO NOT deserve that tip, but they wasted enough of my time, so I ran out as soon as I could.
Tl;dr, Is the food worth it? If you have the time and patience to spare,...
