We tried this place for the first time last night. Good first, place is easy to get to, clean, and the girl working was super nice. This location is tiny, so there are only about 6-8 tables. The food was the bad part. We paid about $40 for two burgers, two fries, and two drinks. We wanted the hand pie as well, but they were sold out. The Hamburguesa was a double patty which are very thin and was cooked very well done. The sauce was just okay and the bun was burnt around the entire outer edge. It was not good. The Outside Brown burger was not good at ALL. The burger was so well done, it was dried out. The "crispy" onions were French's onions dropped in a pile of the burger and some were soggy; a drop of the aoli. This burger was a big disappointment. The fries were hot, but the outsides were crispy and the insides were mushy. They tasted like they could be good, but had been cooked in old oil. Our friend ordered the chicken tenders - the flavor was good, but the chicken was chewy and the bread was wet, to the point of immediately pulling from the meat and sticking to the cardboard basket. We would not eat here again, but could see the 2am drinking crowd possibly...
Read moreA friend recommended the burgers so we gave it a go.
THE GOOD We each had the Black Pearl - loved the truffle aioli and grilled mushrooms and the pickles are fantastic. Was pleasantly surprised on the quality of the fries. Very large cut (normally not my preferred style), but somehow perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy inside without being overly greasy or limp. Nice seasoning too!
Overall not “the best” burger ever, but worthy of going back as it is a quality “smash burger” style with a focus on good and flavorful ingredients. Honestly, I was more in love with the fries than anything.
THE NOT SO GOOD $2 for a very tiny cup of “queso” - we’ll skip that next time. Packet condiments (mustard and cheap ketchup). We didn’t order to-go, please get a less wasteful option for dine-in. The tables are AWFUL. None of the table tops are securely mounted so they wobble horribly to the point it seems like a safety hazard. Finally, I “get” the vibe…the blaring music is one thing, but having the front staff dancing around and singing over the music was very off-putting … this...
Read moreReally wanted to like this place, but they made it hard for me. First and foremost is their pricing! I’m aware of inflation and supply chain and employee issues, but $8.50 for a single 3oz hamburger that is the equivalent of a Steak & Shake burger or Shake Shack is ridiculous. And for that $8.50, they don’t even use Heinz ketchup. How can they NOT afford Heinz at those prices? A double @ 6oz is like $14.00. Definitely not worth their pricing. The pickles aren’t even close to being hamburger picked. Because they cost less. Everything about this place screams cheapskate, yet at $14 for a Steak & Shake double, you should just go to Steak & Shake and save $10.00 and you won’t have sweat dripping into your burger. It’s a small, crowded and unpleasant seating area and they won’t turn down the AC. It was cooler outside, in Florida, in September. So at those prices, you’d think they’d turn the AC down so it would at least coincide with the outside temp. Me thinks they need to re-evaluate their...
