5th Street Grill — Restaurant in Salt Lake City

I was attending an event at the hotel & heard the food was amazing, & went right there during our lunch break. After being seated, our waitress did not come back for about 15 minutes to take our order. Another 15 minutes went by & a different waitress asked us what was on our order because our original waitress had “taken a break”... 15 minutes later we still did not have our food & our waitress still had not been back to check on us. I went up front to ask what was going on since we were seated second, still did not have our food & needed to get back to the event within 15 minutes. Our waitress said she would check, came back & said our food would be coming out within the next 2 minutes. I asked for it to be put in a to-go box. 15 more minutes went by, we still did not have our food, so I went up front to let them know we would be leaving. They told us not to worry about paying for our food & the hostess went back to get our food immediately. A manager came by & apologized for our wait, saying that too many people came in at once & let us know that she would not be charging us for our food. I let her know that I was told we didn’t get our food because our waitress went on break & that I was already told we wouldn’t be paying. She said our food would be out in a minute, they were putting it in to-go boxes for us. We grabbed our food, thanked the manager & left. We were now 15 minutes late getting back from our lunch break to the event... & the best part was that my food was cold. The burger was over seasoned on some spots & there was no seasoning on some other parts. Fries were also cold. I appreciate the manager not charging us for our food, but waiting over an hour for food & it being cold is just unacceptable. Very disappointed with the food and...

This was the first time I have been and will try to be back again. The food was delicious! The service was good, but they did need more servers. It was a Saturday evening, a concert was in town but there was only one server so it was a bit slow - no fault of the server, he was still wonderful. The atmosphere was fun and inviting. I felt we didn't have to be super careful because there were no little kids, so there wasn't screaming or anyone running around - sometimes, everyone needs an environment that's not a bar but there aren't children. Food and service were terrible. Ordered the ribeye, medium, and it came out charred to a crisp. It was over 75% char burnt (I honestly thought it was a joke at first). I’ve had jerky that was more tender, I had trouble cutting it with a steak knife. My wife had the chicken that had a side of mashed potatoes and the potatoes were moldy. $80 for two with no drinks and we couldn’t finish our meal.
