I had a horrific experience here. Never in my life have I encountered a business like such. I ordered the duck plate that was priced at slightly above $20 dollars including tax. My partner ordered the chicken. The duck looked dissatisfying. Yet I took a bite into it thinking it would be okay. I nearly threw up. The duck was old and spoiled. It was very hard and dark coloration. I called asking for a refund for just my duck dish, they agreed. I went down to the business, the owner (a woman) was being extremely rude. She was saying mean and hurtful things. THE WORST way you can treat a customer. She refused to give me my refund after giving me her word and making me drive back to the location. THEY USE OLD/ROTTEN ingredients. The chef openly admitted to me that the duck was old. Highly advise not to spend your hard earned money here!! Read moreFirst off, this is a small and tight establishment. On the day of service, they were very busy with one employee who played all the roles besides cooking. It was unpleasant watching her move quickly back and forth, taking our order impatiently as if we were holding her down and then not providing us with our dinnerware. When we finally received our noodles, I asked for chopsticks and she waved me off "yeah, yeah, yeah" and continued back and forth. I waited for a bit til I realized, my request was irrelevant to her. Anyways, I do not recommend this restaurant on a busy day. Your best chance for a full great experience will probably be on a slow slow slow day, especially if it's just one worker on the floor. BTW, you have to pay to park unless you get lucky with street parking. They also didn't have what we came for so we weren't 100% happy with that and we weren't going to drive...
Read moreThe food was great! I’ll lead with that. The problem is the prices. $20 for papaya salad? $20 for jerky? For reference, we’ve eaten at possibly over 50 Thai / Lao restaurants around Texas and the East Coast and this is the most expensive papaya salad and jerky we’ve ever seen. We’ve eaten at “high-end” places with less expensive dishes.
With that said, this place is right down the street from the Alamo, where every restaurant is very expensive, albeit not justified.
Service was not great, but that isn’t a hit on the restaurant per se. The sweet woman working here (or possibly the owner) was very busy cleaning tables, taking orders, and bringing food out all on her own.
Atmosphere is like a classic small town, small form factor Thai restaurant. Not fancy, just the way we like it. Felt comfortable...
