Was with a co-worker in the area at lunch today. He picked the restaurant, and I've seen this location so many times but haven't been venturing out until lately. so enitially I thought this was a good pick. Unfortunately, I didn't have a good first experience. Keeping it simple, I ordered a lunch meal and didn't receive it until over 20 minutes after my co-worker received his plate. I tried to encourage him to eat his food before it got cold, but he didn't want to be rude and patiently waited. Which wasn't until the server realized I was still waiting. He rushed to address the issue and came back stating that the plate would be out soon and that someone would be by to talk to me. To apologize? To maybe comp the meal? I'll never know because the only person I saw was him later returning with my plate. With the whole hour we had for lunch, I was left with 15 minutes to eat my then freshly cooked meal and run to my account that I was down the street from, but 10 minutes late to because of this. Maybe i should've taken it to go and eaten it in the truck? Or not have gone here for lunch? My coworker apologized that this was my first experience. I stuffed my food down soo fast and ran. I didn't even get a photo to post. Soo fast, it didn't even click in my mind till later. Wish this could've been a better story, a better review, but this is it, sad to say.

Update: 5/28 I gave the restaurant a 2nd shot this afternoon despite never getting an email response from the email given on this review. I've been joking with my co-worker about going again, and we've talked about that day. Today, I was in the area and went again. This time was a little better, but it still took them 20 mins (better than last time) to bring my plate, and it wasn't even hot. Seemed as if it had been sitting before it was served. I had ran into my boss, who swore the fish tasted great. I ordered a Sea Food Platter, and the fish was not. It didn't have any flavor. I liked the shrimp and these little shrimp balls that I don't know what they were called. But yeah, 20 mins to be served and 5 min to eat and had to take my sides of fried okra to go and eat it...

The food is usually very good, however today the worse service and the worst food. I had salmon and it was raw, the cashier also gave the bus boy the wrong number so he took the food around for about 10 mins before calling the MANAGER ( BIG HISPANIC GUY, RUDE AND HAD AN ATTITUDE) to figure out what was wrong, our food was cold by the time it came. They don't have boiled eggs, dill sauce or bread. When I asked the MANAGER he blamed it on covid-19! I have been there at the height of the virus and he said in order to stay open they eliminated all the condiments. Well maybe they should close untill they can get thier act together and employ better people. There are alot of people who need work and have great people skills. I know the owner so I hope she knows what's going on! I've been a loyal customer for over 50 years, and today I'm seriously thinking of never returning!

Today is the 10thnof Sep, and we decided to visit Sea Island in spite of very poor service previously. I was amazed at the customer service provided by IRMA. She is one of the hardest workers and gives her best attention to all that are there eating. I know she deserves a.promotion.or some kind of compensation. Her constant attention to details and comfort of her customers are unmatched. 2-3 weeks ago I had a very bad experience with a young manager, who had no idea how and what had happened and after explaining to her the problem, she just didn't care and talked down to us not even an apology. I worked for an Airline and 2 majors companies for over 40 years and what I experience from this young manager was pure rudeness. Anyway I've been going to SEA ISLAND for over 40 years and for about the last 20 or more years IRMA has never changed her care and love for her customers. I truly believe she deserves to be a MANAGER! Who ever oversees the corporation needs to step it up. I've met the original owner and she was the kindest and lovely.person ever. So TY Irma for your...

My wife and I used to go there quit often for lunch on Sundays before covid changed everything. We then ordered on line and went there to pick up to-go orders. No complaints about the food but some of your staff might need some retraining... Some need a little bit of customer service training. They were rude to me once before so I stopped going to the Rector St. location and started using the Forum location. Both food and staff are exceptional. It's a little farther but worth the trip. I tried Rector St location again this past Sunday. Was there on time. Called from the car to check in... Kicked over to their answering service... Waited a little bit and tried again... Kicked over to answering service again...So I went inside to inquire about my order. I had to wait in line to explain to them that their phone keeps kicking over to the recorded message and they wanted to argue with me... "Well, when did you call?" "Just two minutes ago, from my car, twice". "Well, when did you order your meals?" "Last night, around 9:00 pm." Rolls eyes at me... Why isn't there an assigned employee to check on the parked cars waiting for pick-up orders? They do at the Forum... When I went inside to ask about my order, it wasn't even ready yet. This is now about 10 minutes past my requested pick-up time. The Forum location usually has it ready about 10 minutes ahead of time and sends a text to let me know it's ready. Not Rector St. Looks like I'll be heading back to the Forum location from now on. Rector St. isn't worth the...

Sea Island Shrimp House is located on Rector near North Star Mall. It's a long time San Antonio institution. From the street it doesn't look like there is much parking, but in reality, they have a larger parking lot below the restaurant level. Parking spaces are available for curbside pickup, and hàndicap spaces are available as well as 2 spaces for "seniors," although the signage doesn't explain at what age seniors begin. There are also 3 spaces for anyone close to the entrance, one of which I used at 11:15 AM. I had not eaten at the Shrimp House since before COVID-19. Sea Island rearranged seating when they reopened that I think is better than the original wooden booths. Tables were arranged to provide plenty of room for eating and walking safely. It seemed even more people could dine than originally, though there was more space to walk through. A large, lighted menu is displayed over the cashier. A menu is also available online. Shrimp and salmon can be prepared Greek style, and a special breaded recipe covers calamari. All menu items are reasonably priced but not cheaply cooked. This is definitely an affordable family seafood restaurant. Had the Seafood Platter for dinner. Very filling! I recommend the Grilled Shrimp Platter for lunch.
