Things have definitely changed, and I'm back to lovin' my old (reliable) JCP store. I stopped shopping at JC Penny back in 2012 when they stopped my favorite dress shirt (just in case any JCP executives read this, it was the 100% cotton signature dress shirt, the one that comes in white or blue, please bring it back), in addition they also took away all their coupon days, almost completely stopped selling slacks made from 100% wool, started selling cheap polyester slacks for twice the cost they use to be, and they removed many of the professional (tailor-like) male staff that would help you pick out colors, tell you what went with what, and educate you about the different types of materials used, why you should care, etc. 2 Sundays ago, I visited the store out of necessity (all my slacks were at the dry cleaners and I had nothing to wear for Monday morning), I figured I would just buy a pair of black slacks since they always carry reasonably priced 100% wool black slacks (it's a long-term marketing strategy; all young boys need a black suit, Moms/Dads remember JC Penny as children, they know 100% wool is best and the love that they don't have to pay an arm n' leg, the kid gets special attention from professional staff for the first time in their life, they get a great suit that makes them look nice, and this memory stays with them in their unconscious mind for the rest of their life). So there I am looking at black slacks and I notice that they seem to be having a sale. I see a pair of slacks that looks quite nice, so I reluctantly check the inner tag (already knowing they will be cheap polyester, just wanting to confirm that so I can dismiss the sale without regret), but then, to my total surprise, they are 100% wool. This was a $120 pair of premium dress slacks, on sale for $39.99. So I look at another pair, 100% wool, and another pair, 100% wool. Then I ask the staff when they started selling 100% wool again?, though he didn't know for sure, he did know that they were selling a number of slacks that were 100% wool, and suggested I take a look at their store brand (Stafford). I told him that Stafford didn't make wool slacks anymore (except in black), but then he showed me the tag and sure enough, they had grey, blue, and even an interesting charcoal type black with light pin stripes that I thought looked awesome. This has been a long review, so I'll wrap it up now. I ended up buying 11 pairs of slacks and 1 new suit, 5 of the slacks were the Stafford brand, the suit was Claiborne. They all fit amazing, I've worn a new pair each day for the last 2 weeks, and I haven't picked up my dry cleaning :-) In addition to the slacks, I bought new socks, under shirts, and 3 new belts to go with the slacks. I got everything for a little under $700 (an amazing price considering the quality). Super happy with JC Penny right now, really looking forward to going there again, really looking forward to the future, will stop in any time I am around one just to see if they've got something new at a decent price. Thank you for bringing back my store. Seriously, it means...
Read moreI bought 3 pairs of earrings online & chose curbside for pickup. I got a text that the order was ready but there were no instructions or a link in the text on how to make it happen. I logged into the app on my phone & I saw the option for curbside or pickup in store. I chose curbside again & there was a link for directions. I hit the link & proceeded to the store. When I got there the directions had me in the front of the store & I saw no curbside pick up parking spots. I went into the garage on the backside of JcPenney & didn't see anything there either. I finally called the store & was told it was on the 2nd floor of the garage near the past the Macy's pickup. I finally find it & I park in the only one that is open because there are cars in the spots but no people inside the cars. I park in spot 5 & I go on the app & I hit "I'm here" & it takes me where to select the parking spot number & color of my car. However the parking spot only goes up to 4. I call the store & I'm asked can I be put on hold but before I could respond I'm put on hold. I wait more than 20 minutes then the call re rings & another associate comes on & I tell her I'm in spot 5 but the app only goes up to 4. She says its ok they will come to 5. I'm so worried that someone sitting in 4 will get my order. The associate does come to my vehicle & she ask for ID which was great. Now the issues are: 1. the text needs to give specific instructions where the curbside pick up is. I know the parking garage. I didn't need the directions. If it had stated "Park on 2nd floor parking garage by JcPenney's door", I would've easily found it. I drove around the North Star mall for at least 45 minutes trying to find it before I called. 2. The app needs to correspond with the number of parking spots in the parking garage. Worse experience & unfortunately I chose to go in the middle of the day when everyone was...
