One of my friends recommended this place, and I have finally had the chance to try it out. Rumor has it that this place is too good to survive in PB (in terms of food quality and cuisine and possibly due to the usual placement on Pb surrounded by smoke shops). My boyfriend and I went around 6:00 p.m. this past saturday, there were only about 3 other customers there. We decided to sit at the bar, in hopes for more energy and unfortunately got the opposite. The hosts was super nice, but the bartender was pretty rude. Definitely in the top 5 worst service experiences I've had. No introduction, after she took my boyfriends drink order she asked for IDs (which is not general problem) but didn't seem like she was going to take my drink order at all... They had an expresso Martini special, $6 for the whole month of July, I love a good expression martinis so I figured made sense to order it. We also ordered the deviled eggs and crab cakes. My expresso Martini was super watered down and very disappointing. I was texting on my phone when the bartender asked us what we wanted to eat, which you would think would not a great time to interrupt... after 30 minutes or so, we paid for the bill and we're working on finishing our drinks, I was on my phone and noticed she took our drinks and my water... luckily, she didn't have the hand to take my boyfriend's water, so I had the chance to drink some of that, at least. but wow, I've never felt so rudely rushed out. As a reminder there's Essentially no customers and twice as many employees. and I've not given in to her rudeness. This entire time, I've kept it calm, cool, and respectful. Although our food was pretty tasty, the servicer/bartender really ruined the experience of us. I will not be a returning customer.

Bar Ella's is a game-changer for Pacific Beach. Finally, a spot where freshness reigns supreme! From the first bite of their house-baked focaccia bread to the last spoonful of their clam chowder, every dish bursts with flavor. The sandwiches are elevated by the fluffy perfection of their bread, while their homemade chips add a delightful crunch to every meal. But let's talk about the clam chowder – it's a symphony of seafood flavors, with generous portions that satisfy every craving. Chef Brenden's innovative approach to cuisine is evident in every dish, setting a new standard for dining in the area. And let's not forget about Meg, the bartender whose infectious positivity and impeccable service enhance the dining experience. Bar Ella's is a must-visit for anyone craving exceptional food and atmosphere in Pacific Beach. As a local I'll be back, keep those black and tans coming.

Barella is a great place to have a bachelorette or girls trip outing! The booking is easy and they have so many openings. I would highly recommend doing the high top table as it is great for large groups! Barella is one of the best happy hours I have ever been to! Their espresso martinis are the best I’ve ever had and are only 6 dollars even out of happy hour. We also tried the Yukon potatoes which I highly recommend as well. I went with my sister for her bachlorette weekend and we all had a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived the staff tried to make our visit as special as they could. When we were about to leave they surprised our bride with a sparkler and free shots! If you are looking for a fun and aesthetic restaurant then look no further! I had read raving reviews for this place and I agree with all of them!!

Bar Ella is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was blown away by the incredible atmosphere and the warm, inviting ambiance. The attention to detail is impeccable, from the stylish decor to the comfortable seating.

Now, let's talk about the food! The menu is a culinary masterpiece, offering a delightful array of tapas that cater to every palate. Each bite was a burst of flavor. The crab cake was a standout dish for me - perfectly seasoned, with a golden crust giving way to tender, flavorful crab meat. It was a true delight.

The Clams Casino were a revelation. Each plump, succulent clam was expertly prepared and delishly baked to perfection, creating a mouthwatering combination of flavors that left me craving more.

And then there was the Caesar salad. What a treat! The freshest of ingredients were expertly combined right in front of us, creating a salad that was not only delicious but also a feast for the eyes. The crisp romaine lettuce, tossed in a tangy, light dressing, was perfectly complemented by the generous shaving of Parmesan cheese and the crunch of house-made croutons. It was a delight to watch the skilled preparation and an even greater pleasure to savor each and every bite.

And the zeppoles! Oh, the zeppoles. Being from New Jersey, these were a delightful trip down memory lane, evoking a sense of nostalgia with every fluffy, golden bite. The perfect balance of sweetness and lightness made them an absolute treat, and they paired wonderfully with the affogato.

Whether you're a foodie or just someone who enjoys a great meal, Bar Ella has something for everyone. The attention to detail and the quality of the ingredients truly set this bar apart.

The staff was incredibly friendly & attentive making excellent recommendations and ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect.

Overall, I can't recommend Bar Ella enough. Whether you're looking for a place to unwind after work, enjoy a romantic evening, or catch up with friends, this is the place to be. I'm already looking forward to...

10/10—absolutely incredible! We hosted 80 people at Bar Ella for our wedding rehearsal dinner and couldn’t have been more impressed. Meg, the event coordinator, handled every detail with care, presenting everything—including costs—in a clear, organized way, and she delivered beyond our expectations. The Bar Ella team is truly second to none. We served appetizers, entrées, and desserts with an open bar, and Meg helped us craft the perfect menu, accommodating multiple allergies with ease. (They even offered Signature Cocktails, though we opted out.) They went above and beyond by letting us play a custom slideshow on their screens (huge hit—strongly recommend!), light candles for a religious ceremony, and bring in a photographer to capture the night. They also managed the music, provided a microphone for speeches, and handled every logistical detail seamlessly. For an extra special touch, we included a small décor budget in our event plan, and Meg and Krista transformed the space with gorgeous additions. From the exceptional food to the unbeatable atmosphere and top-tier service, this place ROCKS! Whether you're planning an event, grabbing dinner, or just going out for a drink, do yourself a favor and make Bar Ella your first stop. You...
