We were so exited when we heard Dave's was opening in SD after trying it in LA. For those wondering- yes, according to the employee I spoke to when I picked up our food, this place is also Halal zabihah like their LA location!
We did online ordering and scheduled pickup for 11am. We got a text at 10:45am that our order was ready. When we got there we saw a huge line around the corner, but thankfully they had a side entrance off Cass St for online order pick up. It was well organized and I didn't have to wait long. Even for those ordering in person, although the line was really long, it looked like it was moving.
We forgot to take a picture of our food itself, but it was great! We ordered combo #3 (1 tender, 1 slider, fries). Portion sizes are really big. The slider is basically the side of a chicken sandwich, so you essentially can have 2 meals with one order. I ate half my fries and my slider and that filled me up. Saving the rest for later. We made our orders "hot" because we like spicy. It was a good spice level and balanced out well with their sauce. They also gave us 2 sides of sauce for each order, which was plenty! The only hiccup was that I ordered slaw to sub for fries, and they forgot. I didn’t notice until later, but I didn’t mind because I prefer fries over slaw (I was just trying to be a little healthier lol), and I’m sure they were slammed on opening day, so not a big deal.
Can't wait to eat Dave's again, and take family and friends here...

Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5 stars for service and atmosphere)
Review:
Dave's Hot Chicken offers incredibly delicious hot chicken that will leave your taste buds craving more. The flavors are exceptional, with each bite bursting with a perfect balance of spice and succulence. Their unique blend of spices adds an addictive kick to the chicken, ensuring a satisfying and indulgent experience.
However, the service at Dave's Hot Chicken was disappointing. The staff seemed disinterested and unengaged, providing slow and inattentive service. Their lack of hospitality was evident, leaving me feeling unwelcome and unappreciated as a customer.
Furthermore, the atmosphere lacked charm and personality. The interior design felt dull and uninspiring, failing to create an inviting and vibrant ambiance that complements the concept of hot chicken.
In summary, while Dave's Hot Chicken delivers exceptional flavors, their lackluster service and unappealing atmosphere detract from the overall experience. The superb food alone might entice a return visit, but it's important for restaurants to offer a satisfying dining experience that extends beyond just the taste of...
Read moredawg, I drove a long 12 hours down to San Diego, barely had enough money for gas to limp to my hotel, and all I was craving was some Dave’s. So I popped up in there, but money tight, so I just got two tenders by themselves no fries. Bit of a wait, but it was like 12:30am, and it was busy as beans, so I wasn’t sweating it. They working hard and they’re doing great. And man, the wait was worth it. I got that food, and I drove back to my sad stinky run down hotel. Not much to look forward to. But bro I cracked that box open to reveal a blessing from the Lord. The stars kissed me once again. I counted not 2, not 3, but 3 and a half big juicy tenders. Plenty of pickles. Plenty of bread. Three sauces. Every employee who helped work that closing shift, I wish nothing but love and joy upon your head. I hope your showers warm up extra fast, and I hope every thing you ever want to buy is on sale. I hope you wake up well rested every morning and your alarm won’t go off for another hour. I hope every kiss you ever receive makes you float with joy. I hope karma smiles kindly upon you as you did upon me. I needed a pick me up, and something so small as an extra tender meant the world to me. Thank you Dave’s Hot...
