Fish & Things Poke Bar — Restaurant in San Diego

San Diego has a brand new poke spot that definitely does not disappoint! Fish and Things is serving up some of the freshest fish straight from Hawaii, and you can definitely taste the difference.

Enjoy a variety of amazing options including a build your own poke bowl, which comes loaded with toppings and their house made sauces like the garlic sesame and yuzu ponzu. Their sushi rolls are absolutely delicious, as well as the tacos with sushi grade ahi and salmon. I also love how it’s close to the beach so you can grab your food and enjoy a lovely picnic.

FRESH, FRESH, FRESH !!! It was my first time here and I honestly did not know what to order because there were so many great options. I ended up ordering a Regular Bowl and build my own bowl with the help of one of the staff members. I gave her my top three choices of proteins and I allowed her to build my bowl to her liking and let me tell you, it was the best tasting poke bowl EVER.

I had to go back and make sure I got the recipe for this bowl so that I can share it, so if you are like me with no shellfish allergies and love TUNA, HAMACHI & SHRIMP then here is the recipe:

BASE: Sushi Rice

PROTEINS: AHI TUNA, SHRIMP, HAMACHI

COLD TOPPINGS: cucumber, diced green apple, cilantro, green onion, edamame, crab salad, seaweed salad

SAUCES: 1 - Garlic Soy and 2- Spicy Kimchi (so delicious, craving as I type this)

DRY TOPPINGS: crispy garlic & furikake

Fish & Things Poke Bar has THE BEST poke that I've ever tasted in life. All their menu items are fire and taste delicious. The fish is fresh and they offer a variety of raw or cooked selections. You can create your own bowl and select your preferred ingredients or you can go with one of the menu selections. Either way you can't go wrong. I highly recommend the Bruceville Sushi Roll as it's unique and I've never had anything like it. The Spam Musubi is another delight. For those not afraid of food with a slight kick I recommend the Heat Wave poke bowl. The Taco Trio is also a hit. The food is 10 out of 10. Clean, fresh and healthy. I stuffed my face without feeling lethargic or sluggish. This is going to be one of my weekly spots for my walks along Mission Beach PB boardwalk. The staff is also friendly and they take pride in preparation of the food....
