My boyfriend and I love this restaurant! The first time we went here was Oct 2014 and since we had a great experience at that time and we are back in San Diego, then we decided to visit this place again! When we got there, a woman was handing out a free Ghirardelli chocolate! I thought that it was very nice of this shop to do that!

We ordered at the front station, we ordered our favorite here, the “World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae”! This time, we chose to dine in because there were not a lot of people, the place was almost empty, maybe because it was really cold at that night. Lol. So we ordered this sundae in their chocolate waffle bowl!

The wait for the sundae was not that long, I think we only waited for 5 minutes. The manager served it on us. I was actually surprised that he did it. He also asked us if we needed anything before leaving us. After serving us, I saw him cleaning the tables and wiping the plates dry. I actually have a high regard to the managers like him! He was unlike some managers in other places who doesn’t want to do anything other than boss around on their employees. I was very surprised that he really works! So kudos to you, sir! He was not only very hardworking, he was also very friendly and attentive!

As for our sundae, it was still delicious! It tasted the same like before! It was perfect! The chocolate waffle bowl complimented it more! My boyfriend and I thinks that this sundae is still the best among the sundaes that we had eaten so far! It really lives up to its name!

Before we left, we cleaned our table as a help from the manager, and was about to take our plate at the front but the manager immediately took it from us. He was extremely nice! I really admire and appreciate how...

Went in for ice cream after Mother’s Day brunch (5/12 around 4:56 pm) at gaslamp area and was very disappointed with the service. We ordered three items (2 sundaes) and one drink. The guy took our pager but gave us only one drink then I went to inform them we are missing two sundaes, the manager asked for our receipt then took a while to get our sundaes while I was standing there to wait. Then, she finally handed us our sundaes without the chocolates. I went back later to inquire if our sundaes were supposed to include chocolate on top?! She said you walked away that I didn’t get a chance to give you! Really ?! She didn’t even call me back or deliver to our table if they were missing by accident! The tone was quite rude! I calmly responded back to her that I know you guys are busy but that’s not the service I expected or paid for. After I said it one more time that’s not the service you should provide, she finally said okay I am sorry with a not very willing tone. Wow, is that the service that I expect from a manager at a suppose to be well known chocolate dessert place?!?! I also was disappointed that they didn’t use the glass cup to serve as shown on their menu (probably due to busy). Nevertheless, as customer like myself who goes in to pay for a higher price for a desert would expect the quality and service! Quite disappointed today, probably won’t go back for a while and hope next time if I decided to go back, the quality and...

Nearly as good as the SF location, and about 1/10th of the wait time. Ordered the cookie crisp sundae (forgot the exact name but we added bananas with it), and it targeted, fired at, and completely obliterated the spot. Ultra rich (you can either have a dessert or all your meals today) but this is to be expected. No joke, if you die here of a sugar overdose (not unlikely for the faint of heart), it is a rule that you are instantly allowed into heaven. In fact, I may have even visited the place while I was here.

The fact that it's in an old theater building makes it even cooler.

Of course, if you come here expecting some trendy B.S. granola and subpar NSA frozen yogurt product, like all the trendy people do these days, you may not get the same experience. This is not the place you go to so you can text your friends afterwards about how you "totally like lost 5 pounds this month so it's OK that I cheated on my diet because I'll just eat my carb free grass clippings and good intentions diet for the next 2 years, or until I make an exception again, whichever comes first". If you go here, own it! Savor it. Life Pro Tip: People who give this place less than 5 stars are missing the point entirely and are not...

The Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego is an absolute must-visit, especially at night when the historic district comes alive with neon lights, music, and a buzzing crowd. The mix of old Victorian architecture and modern nightlife creates an unforgettable atmosphere. One of the highlights of my visit was stopping by the Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop. The bright neon sign immediately caught my eye, and stepping inside was like entering a chocolate lover’s paradise. I indulged in one of their famous hot fudge sundaes, and it was simply amazing—rich, creamy, and loaded with delicious Ghirardelli chocolate. Whether you’re in the mood for a decadent dessert, classic ice cream, or just a sweet treat to enjoy while exploring the area, this place is a must! Right next door, The Merrow added to the lively vibe of the street, with its inviting glow and energetic crowd. The whole area is filled with great spots for food, drinks, and entertainment, making it a perfect place to spend an evening. If you’re in San Diego and looking for a fun, vibrant experience, the Gaslamp Quarter—and especially a stop at Ghirardelli—is a must. I’ll definitely be coming back!
