As I was sitting in my hotel room at 12:30am I heard my stomach growl amd realized I had not eaten dinner today. I went on Google and found a place that looked good and decided to walk there. Upon my arrival the business I looked up originally had already closed their kitchen and I had to change my plan. Unsure of what to do I decided to venture off into downtown San Diego until I stumbled upon The Melt. I had been to their location in the bay area and so I was familiar with this business and decided this is my solution to my hunger problem. I walked in with level expectations but little did I know the staff here are rockstars! The lady at the register was very kind (sorry I didn't get your name) and helped me out when I had an incident immediately after buying my beer! Thank you for that. I ordered the Original Melt burger which was delicious, and the Melty Mac which was also superb. As I was eating in there patio location I sparked up a conversation with another employee, Johnny. He was very kind and attentive he made sure I was enjoying my meal and asked if there was anything else that I needed. I assured him everything was fantastic and thanked him for asking. Another employee Devin was also very kind and grabbed me extra napkins when my hands were cover in sauce. 😂 To the Melt Staff thank you all this was a great and unexpected experience and it made my meal that much better. I may even go back for dinner tomorrow because of people like Johnny, Devin, and the lady at the...
Read moreI got lunch here today - not many clean tables to choose from but the food tasted great. By the time I nearly finished my grilled cheese I noticed that the avocado I had added on looked pretty tired but didn’t think much of it. Oh what a fool I was. I went to use the restroom before leaving and noticed how unclean the back of the restaurant looks, the door to the dry storage was also left open and looked pretty rough too. When I returned home, I felt an ungodly storm brewing inside of my being. Frothing waves of nausea crashed into me; the contents of my stomach had become a wild, churning beast. It was insatiable. I ran, sweat pouring from my body, I completely disrobed before this unyielding force. My stomach echoed a thunderous roar that felt as if I had ripped apart, with the contents of which cascading out of every orifice. The storm quelled as I dispelled the sin from my body, leaving me left aimlessly adrift in my shame of what has happened to me. I now rest upon the couch in my ancestral home, reeling from what I’ve just endured, comforted by nothing but The Muppet’s Treasure Island and a very concerned boyfriend.
“How sweet it is to watch from dry land when the storm-winds roil A mighty ocean’s waters, and see another’s bitter toil— Not because you relish someone else’s misery— Rather it’s sweet to know from what misfortunes...
Read moreGoodness gracious, the food was a cheesy bundle of bread and meat. They have many vegetarian options too, though. But you gotta try their grilled cheese and burger melts.
The staff is also SUPER friendly and while I was eating, I overheard who I assumed to be the staff manager talking to the employees during a brief huddle about the importance of positive attitudes to create a good customer service experience. They also referenced reviews, showing they actually read them and value feedback. The vibes among the team were phenomenal. After this they gave high fives, got back to work and jammed out to some classic hits on the speaker.
Their soda is “natural” so they have those flavors like “Brewed Rootbeer” “Natural Cola” and others of that sort. They have upstairs and downstairs seating, with two restrooms downstairs requiring passwords obtainable from staff.
I ordered the Original Meltburger without the pickle/jalapeño mix and I added avocado slices, I also ordered the garlic fries. My partner ordered a fountain drink, the Steak & Cheese melt, and Garlic Parmesan Bacon Mac. In total, it was $40. Kinda expensive, but every bite was worth it, except for the Mac n cheese we got; it wasn’t that good. However, this place overall is definitely a must try if you’re...
