Onyx Room — Restaurant in San Diego

Very much enjoyed our time at this venue! We visited from Out-Of-Town and we looked around for a place where we could dance, enjoy our self's and feel comfortable with. We decided to visit The Onyx because right off the start when we contacted them to find out hours, cover charge and any other info we could we where helped with a very high and respectful quality very informative to make our experience the best.

We where informed that there is a Guest list which people can sign up at their website. We where informed of the hours the guest list would be in effect as well as regular hours and cover charged which was very reasonable (Check their website or call ahead for specific dates and events they might have going on)

We arrived about 30-45 minutes after doors opened and the doorman greeted us very nice, helped direct us as we got out of the cab to know where to enter the marked lines of rope for people the make line. fortunately at the time there was no one in line and when when right in. The door man looked up our names and info form the guest list and checked our ID's very prompt and efficiently allowing other guest behind us to move along and continue with out any wait.

Once inside we made our first stop at the bar. There we found an awesome bartender who made us awesome drinks and he definitely was fast! Understandably I imagine that's the pace he does when the place is full to serve people with out having to wait too much and he did en excellent job! We kept coming back for more throughout the night and even when it was crowded he still delivered great tasting drinks!

The room: You will find a very long and narrow dance floor expanding from just a little bit after you make your way in all the way to the very back of the room. There is short bar areas where people can place their drinks along the edge while standing up on both side either near the bar or along the opposite side where there is also tables for Bottle service and private groups who make table reservations I imagine.

Along the wall opposite of the bar you will see a the wall covered fro side to side with this awesome looking electric display of lights that are coordinated to go along with the music that's playing controlled by a very talented and skillful man at a control booth near the back. In the middle of that long video display screen you will find the main DJ booth where there is enough room that you could approach the guy and perhaps request a song if he might be up for that. Not all places and not all DJs are open for that but in case this place does and the guys is open to that, you have enough walking room to do so. The time of our visit there was an opening DJ who played the early part of the night and at one point a 2nd DJ came on who totally blew the roof off the place with great music selections, great mixing skills and keeping the crowd hyped.

Overall I highly recommend this place, be sure to arrive early and take advantage of the guest list on their website if available on the night you plan to attend, depending if they might have a special event or anything going on. Oh and yes, there is a downstairs area which I was not able to check out but I very much want to come back...

This is one of those "if I could give them 0 stars I would" kind of posts! Back in October my friends and i went to downtown to celebrate a 21st birthday and arrived on a party bus. Once we arrived we decided to get VIP service and chose the one for only 6 people which costs us $500! Within minutes of us having the table I had to leave due to a friend being way too intoxicated. Long story short I went back in to tell my friends and family I was leaving only to see the table had been cleared out! We literally had the table for AN HOUR! I have reached out to the club and first spoke to Carolina who said Erik the bar manager would contact me and to send them a detailed email which I did and literally didn't hear back until January only to be told he'd get back to me in a couple days! Well it's been 3 weeks and I have yet to hear anything! So DONT go here and spend your damn money because they will screw you over! Erik gave me 3 excuses as to why the table was taken from us, first it was because no one had wristbands BUT the 3 people that were actually there DID HAVE them, second excuse was because IF THE BOTTLE IS ALL GONE THEY LIKE TO RESALE THE TABLE TO ANOTHER PARTY!!!! First of all when he said that blew my mind because the few times we have got bottle service one of the reasons is usually so we have somewhere to chill. Idk about anyone else but i wouldn't spend $500 bucks knowing we would be kicked out because we finished a bottle that we purchased! Total bs if you ask me. And then when i commented on all that he said because my friend was drunk but that was even dumber because she wasn't at the table for that long anyways! We got removed from the club when she was in the bathroom so they didn't even know she was at that table! Anyways don't spend money here or get vip because they will SCREW YOU OVER!!!! I will be writing a review on every damn website I can as well as reporting them to BBB because $500 for an hour is BS! I gave them 4 months to get back to me and only heard...

TERRIBLE bar experience (01/20/23- Latin music room) Good music, good people at the entrance and doing security... however, I went out there on a Friday night. As soon as I got in, I went directly to the bar for some drinks. A —((white skinny male with round glasses))—was on the side of the bar I was approaching. He saw me and ignored me twice while I tried to get his attention, and decided to serve people that approached the bar after I did. After a few mins and no one else left for him to serve he got to me. His attitude was not one of service, he prepared the drinks and left them for us to take while he charged my car. I got 3 drinks. About $50dlls. I don’t think he deserved a tip for his mediocre performance. So I didn’t leave him one. 30mins later I came back to the bar to get another drink. However this individual that had served me walked to the other corner of the bar to tell the bar tender that was about to serve me to not serve me because I had not left a tip. I couldn’t believe it!! I was a customer just trying to buy drinks. I would’ve tipped this other bar tender that was about to serve me because he seemed friendly. Not only did the first individual that served me tell this bar tender to not give me drinks but went out of his way to tell everybody else working there to not serve me.
