Pacific Beach Ice Cream Co. — Restaurant in San Diego

My husband and I stumbled across PB Ice Cream Co while heading to Pueblos for our anniversary dinner. We both have a serious sweet tooth—I'm all about ice cream, and he loves shakes. After dinner, I told him I wanted ice cream and mentioned the spot we passed earlier. Funny enough, when he Googled "ice cream nearby," he found the exact same place!

We walked over, and I was so excited. They have tons of flavors to choose from, but Oreo is my favorite, so I went with that. Of course, my husband got the Oreo shake. We ended up trying each other's orders, and oh my gosh—they were amazing! We've had Oreo ice cream and shakes at a bunch of places, but this one hits differently. It's so good, we’ve been craving it ever since. I later found out they make all their ice cream in-house, and it totally shows. The flavor is unreal—it’s rich, creamy, and has this unique kick that I can’t get enough of.

Now, we’re basically regulars. Tonight, we wanted it again—at 8:45 PM, right before they closed at 9. I called, and Dave, the owner, answered. He was super nice and told us to come by anyway, even though they were about to close.

I went looking for an off the beaten path ice cream shop Pacific Beach. Boy did I find one! Everything was just perfect; the quaint location tucked in a strip mall, the ice cream scoop handles you pull to get you into the shop. As you enter more than one lovely counter person was there to greet you. (2 great girls actually) Yes I agree with some of your disgruntled patrons that the flavors were unique and tasted super differently homemade (I didn't care for the mint taste) but I kept sampling (yes I shared my sample spoon with my guest and yes & asked for another sample when I felt I needed confirmation on the ones I choose). I indeed got strawberry covered chocolate and Oreo in a cup. They were the best together. My companion got full strawberry covered strawberry in a waffle cone. I ate most of the cone. 😀 We had a splendid time listening to music in the parking lot. I was asking everyone going in what flavor they got. Unbeknownst to me, I asked the owner!!? For those bagging on the owner, you go try and have a passion for something, open up a brick and mortar shop, handcraft all the flavors then see how you like being critiqued.

Dave, the owner at Pacific Beach Ice Cream Co is all about creating not only a spectacular customer experience, but an incredible flavor experience as well!! I was so grateful to have stumbled upon his ice cream shop only a week after he had opened up Pacific Beach Ice Cream Co! After he shared how he hand crafts all of the flavors in shop, Dave gave me tasters of many of the amazing flavors he creates, classic ones like crushed Oreo and as unique as a floral Violet flavor and Basil flavor! The flavors, variety, and textures are top notch (coming from an ice cream addict). Dave also has an array of Vegan options including a to-die-for Chai flavor. I ended up having a great conversation with him about his business and the area for about 20 minutes.
