I recently visited Pueblo and had a mixed experience. Let me start by highlighting the positive aspects of my visit. The waiter assigned to our table was exceptionally friendly and attentive. He checked on us numerous times throughout the meal, ensuring that we had everything we needed. This level of service was commendable.
The interior design of Pueblo deserves a special mention. The incorporation of graffiti, Mexican decor, and the lush fat-plants garden surrounding the building creates a visually appealing atmosphere. It adds a unique touch to the overall ambiance, making the dining experience more enjoyable.
However, I must admit that I was somewhat disappointed with the food. While the presentation of the fish tacos on a taco holder stand was visually pleasing, upon closer inspection, it became apparent that the taco fillings were skimped on. It seemed as if the owner had instructed the kitchen to prioritize cost-cutting over quality. The excessive use of cabbage, which served little purpose other than filling space, was disappointing.
The buttered fish, while adequately prepared, lacked any standout flavors or impressive qualities. It gave off the impression of being frozen and deep-fried on the spot, rather than being freshly made. Similarly, the ceviche and the accompanying tomato sauce lacked the vibrant flavors I had hoped for, leaving them rather bland and watery.
Perhaps the restaurant is striving to cut costs to sustain its business, despite the new and well-maintained interiors that suggest otherwise. It may be possible that the owner's approach to food preparation is driven more by profit margins than by providing a truly enjoyable dining experience.
In conclusion, Pueblo offers a pleasant atmosphere with a friendly and attentive waiter. However, the mediocre quality of the food, especially the fish tacos and accompanying sauces, was disappointing. It leaves me questioning the motivations behind the food preparation and whether the owner's focus lies more on maximizing profits rather than delivering a memorable...
Read moreDefinitely strongly recommend Pueblo. BIG THANKS TO HECTOR without his warm and friendly attitude we would not have considered Pueblo in the first place AND MICHAEL without whom this night would not have been as memorable. ♥️🙌🏼
We were in town searching for a fairly priced good quality fish. And believe it or not ... was pretty tough to find the perfect place. On our way home, we saw Pueblo and stopped to enquire about their menu. Thankfully, as soon as we set foot in the restaurant, Hector had the warmest welcome for us and helped us with our questions - we knew for sure we’d come back for dinner. And we did. If not for him, my satisfied tummy would not be so satisfied tonight !!
If you’re looking for some fresh seafood, Pueblo is the way to go. And with that quality of food and the staff’s confidence in their menu, I’m pretty sure even their steaks and chicken are divine to bite into. Personally I was pleased with my dish. I had the Daily Market Fish Filet - Pacific Sea Bass . The fish alone was surprisingly tasty and ever so tender. It was accompanied with a boozy white sauce that enhanced its taste thrice more and the crunchiness of the zucchini and corn brought it to perfection. As for the Vegans out there...THEY HAVE A MENU JUST TO ACCOMMODATE YOU! My partner had the Portobello Molcajete. He enjoyed this experience as a fun, fancy and unique way of eating Fajita bowl (for Torontonians). Hanging in a jacuzzi of a secret Pueblo house made salsa sauce - nothing like a typical salsa - there were zucchini, portobello mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, pickles and more. On the side was a bed of guacamole, beans, corns and tomatoes and of course the soft enchiladas. That last bit itself was enough for a dinner !
Koodos to our waiter Michael ! 🤙🏼 He went out of his way making sure my poor little sick self had everything to be comfy and took lots of patience explaining us all the fantastic details about the menu!

Read moreSO Disappointing! I had high hopes for this restaurant - the exterior is beautiful, the open air patio was lovely and especially nice during Covid. The menu looked promising.
I ordered the ahi tuna tostada which the menu said was prepared with (among other things) a crisp blue corn tortilla, mango, fresh herbs, micro greens, and ponzu sauce. Sounded delicious! It showed up without ANY mango, any herbs, any ponzu sauce or any micro greens - it was cucumber, jicama and tuna with a little avocado and one sprig of cilantro. SO pathetic, it didn't have any flavor whatsoever. Plus the fried tortilla wasn't blue corn, just a regular run of the mill tortilla. I said the the waiter that they must have brought the wrong thing, and she looked perplexed and took it away. The manager came over and told me that the kitchen staff must have "freelanced" and just did what they wanted. WHAT?!
So I re-ordered chicken flautas which were so greasy they weren't edible, and the guacamole on top (again) had so little flavor. Even some onions, lime, a little jalapeno would have been a welcome flavor addition! The cocktails at $11 a pop were also only so-so. They promised a whole lot of craft ingredients, which I think they also shorted me on. The bartender who was in charge of the cocktails was WAY more interested in watching the baseball game on television than taking care of all the patrons in the restaurant. I could see him from my table absent mindedly mixing drinks, not really taking pride in the finished product - and it showed in the taste I can tell you. It was a waste of an evening out and I would certainly not recommend ordering anything to be delivered from them since they cannot get the in-restaurant dishes done properly, they won't have much luck with delivery items and then you'll be home with a meh meal for a bunch of money. Cook it yourself and...
