Style Lounge Salon — Local services in San Diego

Don’t bother coming here, don’t waist your time and money on expensive parking fees, especially if you are getting your hair done for special occasions. This is my first time experience in this salon. I called on a Tuesday to set up a balayage appointment, I explained it was my anniversary on Thursday and going out of town. I also explained I wanted to get my hair done soon. She told me that the earliest appointment available was Thursday at 8am which I thought was perfect. I was told to email a picture of my hair and the style/color I wanted to achieve, so after sending my pictures I received a call to let me know that it was possible to get the color I wanted. She told me to come in Thursday at 8am, that Shannon will be doing my hair and that the appointment will take approximately 4.5 hours. On the day of my appointment I paid $30 for parking fees since the appointment was going to take over 4 hours. I walked in and no one was at the front desk. All the stylists were busy and none of them bothered to acknowledge me. I stood at the front desk for over 5 minutes and after feeling ignored I decided to sit. After waiting 20 minutes now 8:25 am, someone greeted me and asked me if I was checking in. She was friendly. I gave my information and she said that my name doesn’t come up in their system and that it was weird my appointment wasn’t scheduled or showing up. She said that Shannon was with a client and no one is available, everyone is fully booked (somehow my appointment got deleted or was never scheduled). She tried calling her manager but she didn’t answer. She said that the next available appointment is next week. I didn’t know what to do since my anniversary was that day. It was very upsetting and frustrating since a balayage requires several hours to get it done and was worried that other salons would be busy as well. I had to call several salons and explained what had happened. I called Salon Radiance in La Mesa and spoke to Maria, she made me feel cared for and made some calls to their stylists right away, and told me Ava will be calling me soon. I was called by Ava within 3 minutes and she quickly understood my situation and was willing to see me within 1.5 hr. Ava did an amazing job with my hair and went above and beyond to accommodate me. I absolutely love this salon! The staff is fun and friendly. They always make me feel at home.

Color: Randi is amazing with color. I have blonde hair and have had a hard time finding a colorist in San Diego that can get my color right. Randi listens to what I want and she nails it every time. I can't tell you how long it has been since I have been so truly happy with my blonde hair. I have been receiving a lot of compliments since I started going to her. My blonde hair finally has luster, radiance and is HEALTHY.

Cut: I have always hated hair cuts because no matter what I say or how many times I explain that I do not want a lot cut off, I always end up with shorter hair than I wanted. Not with Randi. She never makes me feel bad about my hatred for cuts or tries to push me to get one. She listens to me and only trims what is necessary. She shows me exactly how much she is going to trim off and then after the first cut, shows me how much she just cut off to make sure it's not too much. My hair is the healthiest it has been in years because I am actually getting it trimmed on a regular basis because I trust her. I cut it regularly and it's still long!

Wonderful service from all the staff. You do need to book an appointment as they are VERY busy! But worth waiting for. I was visiting San Diego in April 2024, came to watch the Toronto Blue Jays play the San Diego Padres. We only had a few days so it was a nice treat to have my hair done here. My stylist was Amparo Gavarain and she did an amazing job! I told her what I wanted and she was able to make suggestions for treatments that my hair obviously needed. I left the salon with smooth and soft hair, beautifully styled. I would definitely recommend the salon and definitely Amparo! Thank you for the great experience!
