In the heart of San Diego, The Rooftop by STK is not above the restaurant, but rather the Andaz Hotel. With that in mind, you’ll have to enter the hotel and head to the top. The space is really well maintained with decor that’s typical of the Andaz—modern with elements of pop art. There’s a giant mural of Aubrey Hepburn and co-ed bathroom entrances. That kind of vibe. There’s tons of outdoor seating and a giant bar where you can order food from STK. The menu is a little pricey, but expected because it’s downtown and a higher end hotel. There is a pool, but reserved for guests (I believe). I wish the view was better, but it’s still a nice rooftop. My girlfriend and I went during happy hour and the menu featured discounted drinks and shareable dishes. Again, it was pricey for what it was, but expected. The bartender provided excellent service, which is truly why I gave it four stars instead of three. If you’re looking to be outdoors and on a sunny San Diego day, this is a...
Read moreI'm staying at Andaz and ordered in room dining. When placing my order ( a burger and a salad), I was told it would be delivered within 15 to 20 minutes. An hour goes by - no food. Called for update and was told they were "boxing it up now" and would have it to me in 20 minutes. Half hour goes by when I receive a call advising they will get the order to me in 10 to 15 minutes. It took almost 2 hours for this simple food order to be delivered, which is totally unacceptable. On top of that, they delivered the wrong salad. We ordered a Caesar salad and they brought a Quinoa salad (a cost of $3 more than the Caesar). We don't like Quinoa; didn't call to complain as I didn't think it would have done any good. In addition to the $3 delivery fee, an 18% gratuity was automatically added to my bill. Believe me, I would not have paid an 18% tip for the poor service we received. Not a happy customer - and I stay at Hyatt...
Read moreI had to make a reservation at a place I didn't need to make a reservation to. Open Table App says I needed to set aside a table in order to eat there. The hotel has been there for a long time but like with any other spot that wants survive and evolve, this hotel has rebranded. This time piggy backing off of the STK franchise, it has added a "Rooftop" branch of their famous restaurant. It's not what you might imagine or what they promote. This place is very much like a cafeteria, where you pay upfront, find your own table and wait for someone to bring you your food. Actually Carl's Jr is exactly like this place when it comes to ordering and seating. The difference is, you are 20 floors up, there are people in bathing suits everywhere, cocktail specialists/not bartenders and the food is crafted, not frozen. Do I want to give 5 stars.........yes I do. Maybe when I don't walk around aimlessly for the first 5...
