I came here on Christmas day with my friend and I have the most amazing review to give. After searching for almost an hour, any open places to eat- we found Cracked & Battered open. It was our first time coming here and our first time eating Chicken and Waffles. We were greeted by the host, he was very nice, he seated us and we ordered on our phones from the QR codes at the table. I came here on an empty stomach at 3pm, I have not eaten since the night before and you can say I was pretty hungry. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles. The food came out not long after we ordered, fresh and delectable. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and so juicy. No dry chicken around here, taste bud/ mouth heaven. The waffle came with strawberries, butter and sprinkled with powdered sugar on top. The waffle was freshly made, hot and delicious. The waitress gave us maple syrup on the side. Overall, great atmosphere, great location, great food, and great company. I do have to admit they play the music a little loud inside but I left with a very full stomach and a very happy self. Definitely recommend this place, will come again soon!

I visited Cracked & Battered a few days ago, making it my third breakfast option during my stay in San Francisco, and I have no regrets – it turned out to be one of the best choices. The eggs Benedict were a standout; perfectly cooked with a delightful hollandaise sauce. My companions were equally pleased with their dishes. The freshly squeezed orange juice with carrot was a personal favorite – absolutely fabulous. At Cracket, Barrett, the unique feature of allowing customers to place orders through a QR code at their tables adds a convenient touch. Despite this, the two individuals working there, a gentleman and a lady, were always attentive. They were exceptionally friendly, ensuring they met our needs throughout our visit. I give them a solid 10 out of 10. The location is excellent, and despite its cozy size, we had no trouble securing a table. We were able to sit comfortably as soon as we arrived. The ambiance is welcoming, and I highly recommend this place for locals in San Francisco and tourists alike.

Fried chicken fan? It's your LUCKY DAY! Took the Little Lady here for a Sunday brunch and we were blown away at how unforgettable this dining experience was. Contained in a flavorful, crispy coating, you will find the moistest chunk of chicken meat anyone could ever hope to savor. It's a wonder they don't have to mop the juices up off the floor. This bird ain't dry. Although we found ordering through our phones to be a little off-putting, the manager was a sunray of hospitality. Also, this joint has a delightful quirk: there's no booze on the menu! You can enjoy your meal without having to endure the annoying shrieks of mimosa-swilling party girls ringing in your ears. In regards to value, the prices are relatively low and the portions are GENEROUS. All in all, it was well worth the geological epoch we spent waiting for a table.

Their fried chicken - yum Crack and batter is known for their fried chicken. Funny story when my co-worker recommended this place and NOT having the context of their fried chicken, I wondered why the restaurant had such a violent and depressing name.

Ok back to the food: we feasted and tried 4 different dishes.

Shakshouka w/ pita and hummus + side of fried chicken 5/5: saucy delicious and the house made hummus w the fluffy pita , a must must try. (PS, we dined outside and a lady stopped in her track to ask us what this delicious looking dish was called)

Nasi goreng w/fried chicken and eggs 5/5: if you like Indonesian food, flavor and wanted to try something other than their chicken and waffle, I would highly recommend this dish.

Fried chicken eggs Benedict 5/5: what more can you ask for, a traditional breakfast dish with the added all American favorite - fried chicken. Yes please!!

Ricotta berry pancake 5/5: for those sweet tooth's out there, I didn't forget about you. This fluffy, creamy fruity pancake was the perfect item to finish off the meal.

P.S. don't forget to try their 1/2 carrot 1/2 OJ drink. Super healthy to balance out all the fried chicken and very delicious.

Donna S.Elite 2022 Austin, TX 30502292 11/8/2022 1 check-in Pretty good chicken & waffles(4 stars) &some creative drinks. ;) Wait was short. You order on your phone at the table...I took off a star for this.

I like the personal touch, since I'm THERE. We did have great service & coffee refill AFTER we ordered. I guess it's to get people in/ out faster. Not my fave way to order.

Will prob try another restaurant on the street next time we find ourselves there.

While we understand the appeal of physical menus, our digital ordering allows us to take care of guests like you quicker and safer than before, Donna. It's awesome to hear you enjoyed your chicken and waffles and drink selection. The next time you're around, we'd love to bring you some more delicious coffee and breakfast if you stop in here again.

Tom M. Napa, CA 121 11/6/2022 I will make this short and sweet.

Ordering breakfast from a QR code menu doesn't work well. Far too cumbersome to make additions, subtractions or modifications.

I ordered eggs (scrambled hard), bacon and potatoes. After a lengthy delay, I watched the waitstaff eat muffins they had stashed in a drawer and drink orange juice from the orange juicer, our food finally came.

The eggs were still runny, not even close to scrambled hard, and I got no potatoes. After informing the waitstaff of this, they informed me that they had just changed the menu, and things weren't programmed correctly in their POS system. Ok, I'm a fair guy. After another 10 minutes, they brought me a side of potatoes that were swimming in about an inch of oil. I asked what happened with the potatoes, and the waitress told me that's how they serve them there.

I was baffled. Never seen anything like that before. Truly disgusting presentation.

I asked the waitress if she could bring me new potatoes. After about 20 minutes, the rest of our party had finished their meal, and my replacement spuds were still AWOL. Not a good look for Chestnut St.

I won't be making another visit to Cracked and Battered. Adios

Tom, we started the QR code menu to keep up with the times and make sure our guests had a safe and efficient way to order. We're sorry we were still working out some of the kinks with the new menu. While our potatoes weren't your favorite, we're confident we can get your eggs cooked right and a breakfast that exceeds your expectations if you give us another visit.

Taking note of how you like your scramble, Moe H., Owner

Not a good experience. It’s a QR code restaurant that has you pay when you order, if you miss anything you’re starting a completely new order they didn’t get our drink order so had to flag someone down, which isn’t an issue when you have a server that checks in and makes sure guests are happy and orders are in the works. When the person arrived they told me drinks arrive with the food, seemed like they were just trying to give me an answer that required the least amount of guest interaction. They then came back and said they didn’t receive the order, I showed them my receipt then a few minutes later with our drinks, no apologies or anything. Another 20 minutes goes by and our food finally comes out, everything on my plate was bland and undercooked without butter for my English muffin. And since this is a QR code place they don’t make any effort to ask if there’s anything else you’d like or need. It is assumed that you’ll get your order in on your own and require no service whatsoever.

Just awful all around. It’s nice when people try to make your morning a little nicer with some sort of interaction, and get you your coffee somewhat soon. They’re really just doing the bare minimum, and...
