Norcina — Restaurant in San Francisco

We came upon this restaurant by accident. We were randomly walking around looking for a place to have lunch. What a find! The food was phenomenal! The owner, Kaitlynn, offered to make a pizza specific to my dietary needs. One half cheese for my hubby and the other everything but cheese for my dairy free needs. It's been years since I had pizza but I assure you this was the best that I had ever had AND without cheese. They have quite a wine selection and I asked her what red wine would she recommend that I try, if I wanted to acquire a taste for red wine as apposed to white. She explained the different wines and before we left she handed be a bottle of wine to take and try. She assured me that it would be the best and I have to say she was right. Noone has ever just handed me a bottle of wine to take and try. Wow, where to begin. We unexpectedly arrived to Norcina while walking around the Marina. I was hungry and placed and order to go. Angelo, who was standing outside enticed us to go inside as we were waiting for our food and I could not be happier about this decision. Prior to this my boyfriend and I had frequented Florence and Positano. If you're looking for top quality food, resembling that, visit this place. One of the most important factors for me, is knowing staff care that I am having a good experience and Angelo did that and more. While waiting outside Angelo continuously checked in on us, he later invited us inside, made sure that our orders were delivered to the table and made sure that we had a great dining experience. I couldn't ask for more from a dining experience. This was one of those unexpected above and beyond dining experiences. Family of 4 had a pleasant dinner at this restaurant recommended by our daughter. For Appetizer, we had brodo en sacchetti: 4 soupy italian dumplings. Be careful you might splash the soup to your neighbor! It’s indeed soupy… We had Spritz flight with 3 flavors: citrus rosemary, classic blood orange with sage, botanical lime and thyme. Our favorite is the classic blood orange with sage. We had two pizzas: Funky funghi pizza with pesto, wild mushroom and kale; prosciutto pizza with roasted garlic and fresh arugula. We like the prosciutto pizza better. We had three pastas: Truffle Raviolo, a large raviolo with a running egg on top; Tagliatelle with fried kale and bolognese; Campanelle Amatriciana with thick cut pork (guanciale) and onion.
