This place always seems very packed, so I was fired up to try it, but I was not very satisfied with the food. To be honest, everything tasted so sweet, it was overpowering at times. But there’s good things to every dish which I’ll point out as well. - To start with, the shrimp fresh rolls had very little shrimp in it, it felt like you were mainly eating lettuce. But peanut sauce was warm, and tasted good, but I wouldn’t recommend it still. - The pad Thai was cooked well in terms of texture, but this is where the food started to start tasting sweet. Very little sourness or spiciness at all - Sadly, the Massaman beef roti was the let down of the night. This curry was so sweet it tasted like candy to me. I tried adding a lot of spice to it to help balance it out on my own, but overall it just wasn’t it. The beef short rib was cooked well, but overall the roti was the best thing on the plate. The sweet carrots didn’t help either. There was a constant, overpowering sweet flavor throughout the entire meal that I couldn’t get past from the peanut sauce, to The pad Thai, to the curry, it just kept piling on and eventually made it not enjoyable. I’ve been to many Thai places before and usually it’s the balance of flavor notes (salty, sour, spicy, sweet and bitter) that makes the cuisine so unique. However Thai Spice restaurant didn’t have that for me. To credit them, the dishes themselves were cooked well in terms of the proteins and textures, ie nothing was overcooked. The inside is very nice, service is prompt. But the food just ain’t it for me, and I expected more given its reviews and pricing which is why I wouldn’t personally come back here.

I have been to Thai Spice a couple times now - once in the evening with friends, when the restaurant was packed and again as it was time for the restaurant to open. Oh and I cannot forget about the times I ordered DoorDash from here either (loll). Both times, I have been to this restaurant, I have loved their food. To be completely honest, after my first visit to Thai Spice, all I could think about was my next visit so I could reorder their Khao Soi. I mean this in the best way possible - their Khao Soi is great as is but another kind of amazing as leftovers. There is just something about allowing both the regular and fried egg noodles to fully absorb the flavorful broth that fully brings the dish together. Between the stewed beef or chicken as protein, I personally prefer the beef (sorry tofu, perhaps next time). Other menu items I have tried are: their Fresh Shrimp Rolls, Cha Cha Chaa, Crab Rangoon, Tom Kha, and Tom Yum. For the most part, they are solid dishes. Only comment would be that the Cha Cha Chaa and Tom Yum are a tad too salty unless you have a side order of rice or noodles to go alongside these dishes.

Gives off a warm vibe. The food is not served all at once which is assuring that they have plating my food and not heating the dishes to serve. I like how the pictures from the reviews and website are consistent. I loved the good and might come once again especially for Khao Soi (vegetarian). FYI: They stop taking people in just about 30 mins before their closing time and apparently don't do reservations. Luckily we went early this one time and only had to wait for 15 mins or so. The staff is really warm, always greet you with a smile every time you have eye contact and ask if you need anything. Around rush hours and closing time, they usually do a last call for you to order but still drop in once or twice to confirm which is really sweet. Been a while since I reviewed any eatery but Thai Spice is so worth my time ;)

We went there yesterday with our whole family for lunch because couple of our friends were visiting from out of states, so this place had good reviews and thought good reviews+ good food + good service. WRONG!!! My husband made a reservation ahead of the time because it’s a large party and thought it would be busy during the lunch hour. We arrived there before our friends, this waitress was so rude from the moment we walked in. We had our three kids including our toddler who is messy and loud. So I wanted sit away from the other tables (because in my head I thought it’s going to be very busy). I was trying to sit closer to the cashier. This waitress was trying to put the high chair the opposite side of the table where I am standing. I said no I want to sit here. She is keep telling me no you need start sitting from this side of the table (whatever the heck that means) I said no I don’t want to sit. Then she slam ( or put it harder on the floor) the high chair next to me went and answer the phone. We were like what the heck just happened. She came back and said no you can’t keep the high chair here pointing to the end of the side I am standing. I said I don’t want to sit other side of the table because I don’t want she’s disturbing other customers. I said why don’t you remove this chair next to me and put the high chair. She replied that’s what I asked!? I am like no you did not except demanding me to sit on the other corner. We got so annoyed and upset talked let’s just leave. I think the waitress kind of understood that we are upset she changed her attitude a bit after. Our friends walked soon after and they were on tight schedule otherwise we would’ve left right then and there. The food however was amazing. And we were the only dine in customers which is not surprising. Though the food is amazing customer service is below zero. Never or ever will go back there again. I usually share my experience with friends so they could go and try out places too. So this is definitely a big NO No place. Whoever reading this do a take out because food is actually really good....

We ate at Thai Spice on our first night of our 4 day stay in San Francisco and it was great. Delicious, fresh food, very good service in a great atmosphere. Because we were so excited, we returned on our last evening despite the number of other welcoming restaurants and experienced terrible service. Less than 60 seconds after we were served the appetizer and starter soup, the main course was brought to us. Without comment, without a word, the bowls were placed somewhere on our table, which was richly set with starters, and our starter plates were moved in the process. We now had to choose which dish we wanted to eat cold. During the meal, waitresses constantly came and, without speaking, collected plates and bowls that they thought we no longer needed. However. The food was again tasty, but only to a limited extent in this atmosphere. Since we didn't feel comfortable and the service was poor, we adjusted the tip. The waitress stood impatiently with the credit card machine during the payment process. When I was almost finished, she pulled the device away without a word and disappeared. Today I read on my credit card statement that a 20% tip was charged, which I didn't give. I have never experienced such bad and outrageous behavior in...
