Man, I was so excited to try this place. Being that it was the night of Christmas eve, we were not surprised to find many places closed for the evening. After watching Rogue One at the Metreon in IMAX 3D (P.S. You have to watch it in IMAX 3D, it's the only way. Thank me later.), we walked around the area and ended up at The Lark Bar. Initially we were going to actually just give up and continue the fun back home, but as fate would have it, we walked past their cute little blackboard sign outside which read "It's a good day to have an irish coffee" or something along those lines. We couldn't disagree with that so we decided to go inside for a couple.
I wish I could tell you how the Irish coffee was, but we never got one. The bar was not busy, but a sizable crowd was hanging out around because they had already gotten their drinks. We walked to the bar where there was a big open spot and waited to be helped. A white female approached the bar, looked me in the eye but didn't greet me. She was dressed very casually (red plaid shirt), so I thought maybe she was a customer, then she went behind the bar and it clicked me with that she works there. She finally says, rudely, to my boyfriend "Are you going to order a drink?" Uh, well, gee... I am just not sure. Are we not at a bar?? Slightly baffled, my boyfriend still asked for a cocktail menu anyway, to which she also rudely handed over without saying much else.
I was so taken aback by her attitude to my boyfriend that I completely (accidentally) ignored the guy bartender who was (probably) asking me if he could help me. I don't know if it was racism, ageism, or what, but we were barely there for 5 minutes so I'm sure that we hadn't had a chance to DO anything to offend her. My boyfriend and I looked at each other and decided we would take our business elsewhere.
Another new bar with potential, ruined by poor training/customer service. I'm sure we aren't miss out on much from The Lark Bar -- the city has plenty...
Read moreI was staying at the palace hotel so I came here for convenience and wanted to watch the warriors. During the game youtube TV went out due to non payment for subscription and then eventually came back on but with no sound. The bartenders said the sound wasn’t working and they didn’t seem to care. Not a huge deal but if watching warriors games I would recommend golden gate tap room. Way better experience for games. The real reason for the low review is that my group of three came back to the bar about 1 am and got last call at around 1:30. We were sitting at the bar, then at 1:45 the bartender came and stood behind us and said “y’all have to leave” as if they were closing up early and I was confused because there was another group at the end of the bar and we weren’t causing problems. We were about to leave soon but getting kicked out because bartenders want to close early is not cool. We didn’t say anything we just left as we were just over this place. This place seemed cool but completely ruined by rude bartenders trying to close up early and aggressively kicking us out of the bar. Find somewhere else and once again I recommend golden gate taproom just a few minutes walk from here and they always have an amazing viewing experience and...
Read moreOne thing that I will always highlight in a bar is any type of bias of inequality.
First Thursday in the city. It’s busy, understandably so.
I’m standing by behind a patron at the bar.
The bartender (Kelsy) is being blissfully ignorant, it appeared.
Yet, more people come in and she gestures to ask “what can I get you?”.
So I proceed to wave at her and she makes a face as in like, “I see you but whatever” and proceeds to serve others after the fact.
The blatant disregard is unacceptable. And I truly think there some bias in how she reacted.
In an establishment, all patrons should be treated equally. Don’t ever disregard someone, unless they were being disrespectful first.
I’ve been here before when there’s nobody in the bar and she’s acted differently, so what’s the change now?
On the other hand, the other lady (yellow shirt,...
