Pied Piper — Restaurant in San Francisco

The famous Pied Piper in the Palace Hotel. This is a cozy but large bar that serves decent food (more of a low key bar lounge). The walls and ceiling are beautiful mahogany wood Pretty similar to the Redwood Room at the Clift Hotel. I wouldn’t call it a restaurant tbh but you can get a full meal for sure. The food and drinks (cocktails are $20-24) are wildly expensive but it’s a great place to stop if you are nearby. The Pied Piper painting has some folklore history behind it - it’s a really cool enormous oil painting behind the bar. Service is always excellent and the crowd is always a low key mix of people traveling w some occasional locals. Definitely worth stopping in. The service was awful. Our waiter was dismissive, rude, and inattentive. It took 25 minutes to get our drinks and it only went downhill from there. I had to ask several waiters for basic service. We planned to have dessert, but it took so long to get even a menu that we decided to skip it. When I made a comment about the service, the waiter said, "we are slow because we don't have the staff" and then walked off. We then asked for a manger; it took 15+ minutes for one to come over. Sat down at a booth, waitress came up and asked us what we wanted to drink, I asked for a beer and my gf asked for a water, waited five minutes for her to come back with two waters, then another 15 for my beer, all the while we were never given an actual food menu, waited another 15 minutes and just decided to down the beer and go somewhere else. As soon as I finished my beer, she came back and asked if I wanted another.. we told her no and that we have been waiting 35 minutes for a menu and she replied "oh, I didn't know you guyd wanted to eat".
