1208 Ashford International Cuisine — Restaurant in San Juan

My friend and I decided to dine here on a Tuesday night last week, were greeted perfectly at the door and the restaurant inside was cute. Was craving something seafood so I ordered the grilled octopus and my friend ordered penne a la vodka with grilled chicken. The waiter was lovely however he was not very attentive, and food took a very long time to get to the table, about 40-60 minutes. There was only two tables at the restaurant. We started off with the tostones rellenos with shrimp and it was very dry and flavorless. When we finally got our food, my octopus was raw. The thicker part of it was extremely hard, I had a steak knife and still struggled to cut through it. I kid you not, the octopus could not be chewed. I work in the restaurant industry myself, I know what it is to deal with costumers and this is sincerely my first time ever sending back food and requesting a new plate. I explained it very nicely to my waiter and he came back saying the chef said that’s how it’s cooked and I should just order a whole new entree. I proceeded to order a paella with chorizo and chicken and I ate a few spoonfuls, very 2/10. Extremely disappointing food and service. My boyfriend and I are from NYC and we were on vacation and decided to go here for a drink on a rainy day. At first the staff from the downstairs area greeted us and was so welcoming that it excited the h*ll out of us. We had our first two drinks and when we got the bill we realized the good price and noticed we had a little money to spare for the night so we told the bartender “oh this is nice n cheap we’ll have another round”. He comes back with the other round and then when we ask for the bill tells us oh we made a mistake and we charged your patron drinks as 1800 drinks, so we’re charging the 1st two as 1800 but the last one we’re charging it as patron and we will deduct $1 . The difference was almost A $30 difference and they only offered A DOLLAR off , when the mistake was theirs. I feel like they were trying to get one up on us since it was empty and they didn’t make any money as we were literally the only people there. Being that we asked for patron margaritas from the 1st round i told them they can’t just pick and chose what to charge as what when we were cleared of what we asked for. Being that my bf and I came off a bit strong due to how upset we were they fixed the bill but gave us dirty looks on the way out and seemed very annoyed when the mistake was...

First of I would like to say we had a good server, however the manager Was rude unprofessional and truly don’t know the meaning of customer service. The drinks was lovely the raw oysters great. However we had stale tortilla chips, unauthentic guacamole , cheviche and shrimp tacos wasn’t tasty at all. Complained to server about both received a credit for the taco but the restaurant refused to credit the Cheviche Even though only a bite was taken. The disappointment was the manager refusing to understand that the food just wasn’t good and still charged us for food we didn’t consume .Me and my party of three was willing to pay for the drinks and food we ate , bill was 137 but was charge 159 . When asked why the difference we was told it was a tip. No way on the receipt it stated mandatory gratuity. We was going to tip the waitress cash because it wasn’t her fault the food wasn’t good. When asked why did you present a bill that said 137 and charged a different price and refuse to change it Deceitful! Not recommended don’t eat here.
