A place for sit down, exotic, tiki style, cocktails in the heart of Santurce.
Came here with a group of 8 of us. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Despite it being a small spot we were quickly seated. It’s a walk in and sit down as you like type of casual place. Our waiter was horrible and had he biggest attitude ever (I would too if it was past midnight on a Saturday night and I was working instead of being with my friends). He forgot my drink order and a friends food order, took no blame for it and didn’t care to fix it. It’s all right, I’m here to talk about what they’re known for: their drinks & overpriced bite size food.
Food: bite size and well plated and absolutely delicious. Be ware, the pictures make them seem larger than they are but the reality is you will never be full and you will spend a fortune.
Drinks: amazing, tropical and fun. They have all types of cool fun names and are delicious. They live the hype and have an awesome presentation and you don’t have to break the bank while you’re at it.
Definitely add Jungle Bird to your list of bars to stop at while in Santurce. Definitely a more quiet environment if you just want to hang out and chill. Make sure to grab a seat under their glow in the dark sign, great photo op for...
Read moreWowsa!!! The hotspots of all hotpots this year I admit Im a little behind the rest of the praise wave. The staff is multi-ethnic and sweet and thats rare to find in the flow of this work...I get it. You wont be dissappointed or surprised by the amazing service a my water glass was always full. I am a walking allergy including to chicken, nightshades, fish(all fish) and of course pork and gmos so...it was a leap but the edamame pot stickers and the scotch egg (no roe) were a revelation. Now...I can recall the name of the off-menu magixal concotion Daniel (red bearded friendly pirate) and the brilliant bar staff manifested but I gave 3 tarot readings and blessed The Russian Princess, The wandering Latina Love Goddess and my Empathic Warrior recovering from a love affair gone wrong...dont miss out on this gem and Paxxito the chef of the moment.does not dissapoint...run dont walk to Calle Canals local...
Read moreOne of the best bars in San Juan. Went more than 3x in a week span. I believe it is a women-owned and run bar. Majority of their drinks are rum based (as expected). Great decor and ambience, and fun music at just the right volume (not too loud). Their tiki drinks come in tiki vessels. They do have a small restaurant at the side that offers small bites and main plates; sometimes the kitchen would be closed unexpectedly, but we were always fine to just grab some amazing drinks!
Favorites drinks are the zombie and adios pantalones!!
If you go on a weekend (Thursday night - Saturday/Sunday) during peak hours, be prepared to be placed on a waitlist for 30min-1 hour; however, there's plenty to walk around the area while you wait, and we were often called back for seating way faster than the stated wait time.
If sitting in the main area, you may want to bring a light jacket in case the AC...
