My wife and I were genuinely excited about our visit to Costa Maya, given its enviable location and the spectacular views. Unfortunately, our experience was overwhelmingly negative. The service was incredibly slow, with drinks taking over 25 minutes to arrive in an almost deserted restaurant, highlighting a clear disorganization among the staff.
The meal only compounded our disappointment. My chicken burrito was dry and bizarrely paired with guacamole as a sauce. When I objected, the manager defensively claimed that because the chef is Mexican, this was appropriate. Her suggestion of Tabasco sauce as an alternative only further demonstrated their lack of understanding of Mexican cuisine. Throughout this exchange, she was dismissive and even dared to gaslight me into believing that the service we were receiving was acceptable. It's probably one of the first times in my life where I have left food that I paid for untouched.
I pointed out to the manager that, typically, restaurants in the Condado area pull in about $110,000 to $120,000 per month, but judging by the emptiness of their establishment, they were far from hitting these numbers. The lack of customers clearly reflects the subpar service and misguided culinary decisions. Without significant improvements, I see no sustainable future for them in such a competitive market. It's a shame, as the potential is there, but without change, I doubt...
Read moreBeautiful location/view and newly opened. Understand you are in a resort area and prices will reflect. Fills need of Mexican food in area, but charging $12 for chips and salsa seems a bit much. Needs patrons. Overall food was good, veggies in fajitas need longer time on grill. Food a little bland but comes with wonderful sauces on side to spice to your level. Many servers standing around and with few customers seems odd waiting extensively for someone to take order or to pay bill, I assume this will get better with training. Manager comes outside for quick smoke breaks, unfortunately near our outside table. Not the fresh air dining experience we were looking for at that moment. Margaritas were awesome! Has potential to be a great dining option. Hope they can...
Read moreWe saw this restaurant while on an evening walk and tried it. I am glad we did. My wife and I shared a guacamole appetizer and we each got the beef burrito as the main course. Very tasty! The beef inside the burrito was thinly sliced steak - not the ground beef found in typical Mexican restaurants on the US mainland. The waiter told us they opened about a week before our visit. This means the place is new and has few reviews at this point. The price of our dinner was reasonable, and the atmosphere is very nice. There is a water-freature wall that is very eye-catching and the sound is calming and obscures noise from nearby tables.
I would visit this...
