This place was a huge and very y pleasant surprise. O was taken there by a local and forst impression was that it was a karaoke or daxe type restaurant. Flashing disco lights, etc. They jace a nice drinks menu which i thought would be there speciality but when the food came out everything chabged Amazing menu, with incredible combination of flavours. We had a bit of everything but my favourites were: The pear and gorgonzola ravioli with truffle oil and bacon to start. We the boar and plantains meatballs, although the didn’t sound great, where absolutely delicious. Also as a starter we had the duck tacos which where so exquisite, like nothing i’ve tried before. (Ok, not worthy of a Michelin star but hey deserve a mention becaise they were so tasty and original) The osobuco with the most incredible risotto as a main is worth the wait. The risotto is so unusually delicious, something you have to try. The cod was very good with a sort of slightly spicy sauce and capers, a fantastic combination of flavours for both the fish and tomatoes, potatoes veggies. The gnocchi with parmesan and shrimp was spectacular. We kept ordering more and more of this dish. The rib eye with teriyaki sauce was also delicious. I had a delicious rum based drink made with lime, passion fruit and rosemary on top, super refreshing except I wish they would have served it in a bigger glass and with a bit of ice. And for desert the crème brûlée which is done well but its a creme brûlée, the pistachio cake which was good but a bit too sweet for my taste and the coconut chocolate flan which was out of this world. All accompanied with a a fantastic...
Read moreWe ended up at Jacinta in La Placita because it had good reviews and an available reservation. At first it seemed like a great choice. The space is beautiful with chic interiors, trendy lighting, and a calmer atmosphere than most of the other spots around the plaza. I really wanted to like it.
Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. The cocktail I ordered was extremely bitter and not enjoyable, but the real problem was the food. My cod came out rancid and my cousin’s lamb was spoiled too. I asked the waitress to take a look and she immediately recoiled, admitted it was bad, and took it away. What upset me even more was that when I asked why it had been served at all, the explanation was that it “wasn’t fully rancid, it had just started to ferment.” That is no different and absolutely a food safety hazard.
I ended up so sick that I vomited in the restaurant trying to get it out of my stomach, and everyone at the table has had horrendous food poisoning since. Two out of four dishes being rotten is unacceptable at any restaurant, let alone one presenting itself as high-end. The setting may be stylish, but none of that matters if the kitchen is serving food that is unsafe to eat. I left feeling disgusted and honestly concerned for anyone else...
Read moreJacinta is a small 2 story restaurant in La Placita with AMAZING food, The service was on point even thought it took a bit to get our food, for me it was worth the wait and the presentation and taste felt upscale even though the restaurant didn't look as luxurious as other places there and definitely it was low scaled priced.
I ended up here because we were exploring the area, we were hungry and my options were to settle for bar food (and that's never an option when traveling), wait a few hours for a local popular fine dinning restaurant with a super cool door man that said "go to Justina, they have very good good food" or listen to the door man and go to the small restaurant, well let me tell you, I am glad we did. The food was DELICIOUS and the service was great. We were greeted by this nice man, who later on I found out he was the owner and chef who named and decorated the restaurant with his mom in mind.
I was part of a 50 colleagues who were rewarded with a trip to PR, therefore I referred a few others and everyone said that...
