We chose this beach club for my best friend’s bachelorette. We were a group of ten. Each of us bought a chair package amounting to over one thousand dollars. We tipped our water Lucas 95%. Lucas was so kind and his service seemed so nice and welcoming. So, we chose to return the day we were scheduled to return back home. We called and asked about booking a room and storing our luggage. Just from 4-7. The lady said yes. We arrived with our luggage’s and were storing them when we got pulled aside and told we were no longer aloud to leave our stuff there because it’s four people per room. By this time some of our party had departed so it was only 6 of us. Being that we were already there and only had a limited amount to enjoy our last moments in PR we made the decision to book another room. This totaled to about 800$ for three hours for both rooms. After paying that we were then made to show everyone’s ID and sign a paper as if we were going to do something. We were also told the beach chairs, that according to their policy is included with the rooms, were not given to us. Instead we had to pay for a whole beach package totaling our 5 hour stay to 1,500. So, okay, we pay for that as well to avoid more issues with these miserable people and just try to enjoy our last moments without the dark cloud this place was. By now we are upset and just sad to be treated so poorly after spending so much money here. After we got the table the supposed managers, whom had their hands in our face and were giving us attitude, had the audacity to tell my party they weren’t allowed in the restroom until 4:00 even though we had a whole section outside and were actively buying food and drinks. How are you serving a party but not allowing them to use your bathrooms after we booked two rooms and a table and were returning costumers. The package included the bottles and alcohol, which we didn’t order either because we weren’t there to drink we were simply looking for a place to debrief and enjoy PR until our flights. I feel targeted, discriminated against, angry, and so much frustration. I have been to PR three times and have never been to any place with such poor customer service. We ran out of there because they kept threatening us even more following us around as if we had done something wrong. And no none of us were intoxicated. We were all stone cold sober and despite it all patient. In other words if you decide to visit this establishment be ready to get treated like garbage or just save yourself the headache and check a different place out. I have never felt so uncomfortable in any hotel in my life this place needs a rude awakening that i am sure is...

Wow wow wow. Numero Uno has achieved something in the last few years that is singular and unparalleled in San Juan. Everything I needed was here. I was checked in quickly even though I was a little early. My room was much better in person than on the website. Complimentary snacks and beverages in the room with a small fridge to keep cheese or drinks that you might want to take out in the evening after the restaurant closes. Very cozy with a cute seating area overlooking the ocean. Everything was immaculately clean. By evening and day, I enjoyed relaxed yet attentive service by very mindful servers in comfortable beach chairs that were fully shaded—I burn easy. The staff seemed to get that I was chilling alone with my books, checking in periodically to see if I needed anything—a cocktail, another cup of coffee a salad at lunchtime. I approached Numero Uno as a kind of laid-back resort this time and everything fell into place perfectly. After a day listening to the ocean and being around the festive yet low-key vibes of the other guests, I retreated to my well appointed room, changed and went out to the communal balcony to read, and then when it got dark to listen to music and take in the night. Very comfortable seating. Everywhere. On check out I relaxed on the ground floor terrace which has a number of relaxing, very private areas to socialize or just sit and continue reading. I've been staying at Numero Uno in it's many iterations for about 15 years. This is the best one so far. The booking is a breeze and everyone is kind and generous with their time and attentions. The food is straightforward and with vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options—as well as meat for the carnivores of which I am one. In reading other reviews, I'm surprised to hear complaints. I'm not sure what people expect to pay for a hand crafted drink with fresh local ingredients while lounging comfortably staring out at the waves, but, to me, $15 is a really good deal for that. People would do well to understand that part of what they are paying for is the luxury of the chill, relaxing and fun environment on a pristine beach. If people want to pay $5 for a drink there are plenty of options all over the city. Numero Uno is the best there is. I have the feeling some of the reviewers here would rather be at The Vanderbilt but can't—I know I don't want to. Don't try to make this pearl of a relaxed, kinda bohemian, and very modern beachside guesthouse something it's not and you'll have a fantastic time. Thank you so much to the...
Read moreResponse update: (similar to other recent 1star reviews) As you can see in my hundreds of reviews and 1mm+ views, I am fair and honest with all my reviews. Numero's response below is filled with hubris, and I have no idea who "Tai" is nor did we ever hear about any time "3.5hr" limit- nor were we there for even 3hrs. We only interacted with a few ladies hostesses and then were accosted by the lady manager an hour and a half later as we walked by the entrance as we went back home after the beach. Seems you often respond to negative reviews as "creative". Like gustsvo's 1star this month: Funny approach for a hospitality business.
This place is awesome ambiance. And good food. And our waitress was really good. Location epic... the service rating is for the establishment policies and assimine restriction enforcement(not the permit guidelines, which are fine), not our lovely server...however,
We spent a few hundred bucks at a table and wanted move outside to a sunnier table.
They refused unless we opened a NEW tab with a new $30/person minimum. (So, at least an ADDITIONAL $150, just to move tables, we wanted to buy more drinks)
The lead waitress (not the lovely one that served us) had this whole argument that we couldn't change to a new table because their permits "don't allow" changing tables without a new minimum spend....(note we already spent over $250) she said "do you want to see" I said sure.. of course there was nothing about needing a new tab if you change tables in the restaurant, in the permits. We already had wristbands, were paying for food and drinks and we are locals. (We wanted to buy more, just not be locked in to a huge 2nd $$$ bill for our continued chilling.
(Note. All the tables were empty outside except one so it's not like there was any scarcity for us to move tables)
Update: as we left the public beach 2 hrs later, a lady (seems like the manager) came up to us as we walked past the entrance and started commenting and attacking us verbally. Appearantly didnt like my 2star review and was angry. Then she started saying shit to the Puerto Ricans in our group. She said "no vuelvan" dont come back, and spouting about what the sign says- nonsense. She also was "oh, ill be responding" no humbleness, no hospitality, and no inquiry.
I have now lowered it to 1 star, after that incident...
