Berlingeri — Restaurant in San Juan

I think this is one of my new favorite vegan spots. So today I decided to have brunch here with my mom and my little brother who aren’t vegan. I’m vegan and I love trying to make them try vegan food whenever they can so that they can see it’s more than salads and carrots. I was looking through google maps trying to find a place close to where I was staying. I found Berlingeri, I looked through the menu and…wow. I just thought to myself “this is exactly what I’ve been looking for”. An Organic,locally sourced foods, eco friendly ect. vegan place.. HOLYY. it was a little hard to find the place since it’s located in a parking space but when I finally got here, everything just felt so inviting and so worth it. The staff was great and willing to answer all the questions I asked. After being indecisive for like 5 minutes because I wanted to get everything on the menu. Ambience - both outdoor and indoor are full with greens. Outdoor is a shade with all green boundaries. Item 1: Jibaro bowl- contains wholegrains rice with a choice of protein (seitan vs tofu, I got tofu). Bowl was good, very filling, tofu was well cooked. Lot of carrots though but overall good portion size. Fried plantain was sweet and was tasting almost like sweet tofu.

Item 2: Chipotle burger- contains black bean and mushroom patty, avocado, greens, fresh pico de gallo, chipotle aioli, tortilla crumbs. While the burger tasted nice, soft bun and crunchy patty, it would been nice to add som green or fries with it. I would have been fine with extra 2 dollars to enjoy the side along with burger. Item 3: passion fruit juice. I asked if it was squeezed today. Person on the counter said no (honest answer thanks) but said it was made with fresh passion fruits. Our lovely Air BNB host recommended Berlingeri as we are vegetarian. We are so thankful. It is a very pretty place with aweomse food. We ordered Jibaro Bowl, Taco Salad,Calabaza Steak, Banana Bread, and an appetizer that I don't remember the name of, but totally loved it. Wantes to reorder another day but did not see that listed on menu. Fir drinks we ordered ginger lemondade, sourpop and tamarindo. We loved all the food that we ordered. My top favorite was the appetizer which I do not remember the name of(too bad). Those were 3x round ball looking things which were fried and they had some filling inside. Cakabaza steak was a great surprise find. We had never eaten anything like that before. Specially we are really not pumpkin lovers. But this pumpkin steak was tastefully done and we loved it.
