Truly wante 2 like this place beyond the given stars but it just didn't work out as planned. Food was pretty good but the astonishing behavior displayed by 1st server (bearded young man), left us in total dismay which actually wound up striking us as funny by how disconnected he was. Made our order 4 appetizers which were only 2 & as he repeated them back, not getting either 1 right, all the while looking away in different directions without bothering 2 show any enthusiasm 4 his job. Asked him 4 water & this sent him on an even further disconnect. Seemed he was thinking where 2 get it as his eyes darted all over the place. Another server, this time a young woman, came 2 our table & proceeded 2 take care of us, quite dilligently by the name of Lia. Extremely amiable & eager 2 please. She wound up at 1 point running around like crazy 4 it seemed all other servers dissappeared & she fended on her own except 4 this other blonde female server who came 2 her rescue & was also quite helpful. By the end of our evening, sadly the tip was withheld 'cause of the strangeness of the few misshaps, including 1 plate that had 2 b returned. Has great potential but readjustment is needed. Do want 2 go...
Read moreWow! This place knows good food! I felt so well taken care of by all the staff, they were so kind and helpful and attentive.
And the food was incredible! The tostones are delicious (born and raised Puerto Rican, I know a good tostón!), the drinks are tasty and strong (take that, Everywhere USA), and the pizza I had was so full of flavor. It was a lot of food, I couldn’t finish it all, but I sure did try.
The atmosphere is divine. There is something for everyone here. There’s outside dining if you want to enjoy the smells and sounds of traditional Puerto Rico (this is what I did, watching all the tourists going by, listening to all the sounds of the locals. If you’re in good people watching, this is definitely for you). There’s indoor seating which is colorful, entertaining, and air-conditioned. The hidden speakeasy area is also really incredible, very fun music and a lovely mysterious vibe.
I am definitely coming back here. Next time I’m bringing my family, although I have to say, it was a breath of fresh air to be able to enjoy this all by myself. I don’t know. Maybe I won’t tell them, and this can just be my little...
Read moreWhat a gem of a restaurant in Condado! Hubby and I didn't intend on having Italian food during our brief visit to PR but when our previous dinner plans didn't pan out, we decided to stop into Tavola. The restaurant is very unassuming for the quality of food and service they provide. We ordered the french baguette, a side of their mofongo and a burrata ravioli they had on special. Everything from start to finish was truly amazing and unique! The mofongo was an Italian version of the traditional Puerto Rican dish and full of flavor. The burrata ravioli was made with fresh pasta and swimming (in a good way) in an olive oil and pesto sauce. The baguette was the perfect vessel to soak up all the goodness left on our plates.
After dinner we were given access to Vendetta, their "secret" speakeasy, for a quick drink. The space was artfully decorated and had a great vibe. If we had more time in PR we would've stopped in to eat again! Would definitely recommend this great spot to anyone looking for something different and...
