I don't like to write a bad review about a restaurant so please take this review as my opinion and what happened to us only. It may or may not be the usual case.
I'll start the review by quoting my wife when we walked out the door after eating, "we should have gone to Taco Bell." I really wanted some good ramen because it was cold outside and when the ramen was delivered it looked so good. However it was all downhill from there. The broth was lukewarm and had very little flavor. It tasted more like dishwater than it did broth. The key to good ramen is the broth. If The broth is not flavorful the rest doesn't matter. The noodles and pork were so so. We also had a vegetable roll and the California roll. They were also just so so. There was no good vinegar flavor to the rice but the inside ingredients were good. This was our first time trying this place and the right up from the restaurant says they're under new ownership and that they have the best ramen in SLO. I have eaten at all the other ramen places in SLO and this is definitely...
Read moreThe place is under new management. I'll give it a few weeks and try one more time. I was not impressed with the visit. The bathroom was dirty and had no soap. The urinal had urine in it and was filthy. The plates were chipped. It was very cold inside, I know the server was cold. I could tell through her shirt. I got a boba Thai tea, excellent. The black garlic ramen was very good. Broth was amazing, seasoned egg perfect. The 4 pieces of pork were bland and for $16 and such a big bowl of ramen I hoped for 5 pieces of pork. I'm sitting in the parking lot writing this review. Just watched an older man leave the restaurant to grab a jacket from his car. Turn your dang heat on.
Was the food good? Sure Will I be back? One more time at least Would I recommend it? Not likely
Update: August 2022 Food is good, service is adequate but restaurant needs a thorough cleaning. FYI, it's cold in the winter and hot in the summer. They don't run the A/C or...
Read moreHaHa Sushi is a fairly popular place for good sushi, and I now see why.
The menu is fairly extensive in selection considering the size of the restaurant itself. From vegetable tempura rolls, to spicy tuna rolls, and everything in between, it's likely you'll find something for you.
The rolls we received after a 10-15 minute wait were fairly well sized, and we finished them quick enough that I wasn't able to get pictures. One was a little loosely wrapped, but overall, they held up well.
I have yet to try the non-sushi items, so don't consider this a unilateral vote of confidence. That said, this restaurant offers the best value proposition for sushi in San Luis Obispo (even though the way they advertise the rolls as being half off every day is a pretty obvious marketing move). Simply put, HaHa Sushi is no joke. I will return to explore their...
