Update 2: I’ve been going to this place on and off for about 3 years since first review, and it’s alright but super inconsistent. Prices have been rising along with inflation and whatnot, but the quality of service has declined. My fries are often soggy & wraps aren’t crispy even when ordered as such. Every now and then it comes out perfect - maybe kitchen staff are a factor here, but I just don’t understand what is so confusing about wanting something like fries to be crispy, and a tortilla crispy to be crispy. If it gets steamed waiting at the counter, then maybe a different to-go solution is needed. The box is often wet and doesn’t hold integrity. I’m not sure if these details just aren’t obvious but I’m hoping someone will notice after I’ve made these comments multiple times. I wanna give y’all a chance, but you keep letting me down. I’m ready to give up.
Update: I returned to give Hoagies another shot, and the fries & sandwich were much better this time. I should note that I was compensated for returning but I try to keep my reviews honest and unbiased so regardless of price or payment, the service and quality were much improved! Ymmv.
I really wanted to like this place, but first impressions were not great. The pictures looked good and reviews all gave high marks. Unfortunately I was recommended a lackluster sauce which turned out to be an upsell. It didn’t feel right to be charged extra for a small paper cup of glorified thousand island after an employee said it was good. Just leaves a bad taste in a customer’s mouth, figuratively. The cheesesteak was mediocre. Nothing special there. The fries were cold and lacked seasoning, they seemed to be reheated. The bread was nothing special either. Just felt low quality for $21. I always try to leave unbiased reviews, and this was one experience, so maybe I...
Read moreOld Review I went there today out of a recommendation from a coworker, I was told that the wraps were wonderful. After paying $20 for a Pismo Wrap I was on my way. To start, the staff was friendly and the environment was clean and well decorated. That is all of the good though. I put a order in for pickup and they require you provide them your credit card over the phone for payment prior to coming in to pick it up. This was very awkward as I work in an office setting and risk other people hearing ALL of my credit card information. After getting back to the office with my food I was very disappointed, there was two very thin dry slices of tritip and the rest of the wrap was predominantly fries. The tritip tasted bland and had the consistency of cold cuts from the deli counter. I was left with a burrito and plate full of fries for $20. The fries being curly was sadly the best part of the meal. I would not...
Read moreFair warning to fellow vegans- don’t go to this place hungry! They have zero vegan meal options because their bread is not vegan :\ I also wouldn’t expect them to get any vegan options anytime soon since someone who I assume was the owner or manager told me they “do just fine without them” and that “he is sure I have other options around” when I politely recommended adding something plant-based. I also had a not very great bloody Mary. Their fries were yummy though, and I received great service from the server who asked lots of questions on my behalf to figure out what I could eat. Thanks girl!
edit: Even if you’re a meat and seafood restaurant, there are plenty of meat and seafood restaurants that still offer at least one good vegan option and it certainly isn’t considered “competition” with other actually vegan restaurants. Not to mention that having vegan options also brings more patrons to your restaurant. I wish there were a lot of yummy vegan options in San Luis Obispo but, surprisingly, there really aren’t, so the more options the better. Also, cross-contamination is something most vegans don’t care too much about, so any fryer is appropriate as long as it’s canola oil, but I’m really only suggesting that you add a vegan bread option. You already have a vegetarian option on the menu that doesn’t require a fryer anyway 👍🏼. I also said that the bloody Mary was *not very good 😬 thanks for the...
