I was going to give this place 384 Stars. But because of Mr Jerry, I believe he's the property manager, he went above and beyond what he's supposed to be doing. I stayed at this place only for the fact that I had a dentist appointment on Wednesday morning. Mr Jerry was able to accommodate me so I can stay on Tuesday, which was very generous of him. Wednesday morning my Uber didn't come and he offered to give me a ride to my dentist appointment. I mean who does that. This guy is an amazing guy, he does what he can to accommodate, and is able to help out on his own time just because he's a nice guy which is awesome of him.
Now, the exterior may not look as amazing as the Hilton. But you're not staying the outside of the hotel. You are renting a hotel for a reason. You're raising it for the fact because it looks nice, because it's updated, because you want to feel comfortable as you were staying in your own home. I felt like I was home. The room of spacious and the room had everything that I was looking for. It had a decent size bathroom, they had a tv, the refrigerator, the microwave, and a soft bed. The bed by itself is flawless. It was so comfortable that I almost slept immediately.
The previous renters may have done something to the sink and the toilet. I informed Jerry about the toilet and the sink but I took it upon myself to flush whatever it was in the sink and in the toilet. Because of the room being spacious and had all the amenities that I was looking for and for Jerry being such an amazing person and offered himself to take me to my appointment, this place does deserve five stars.
Some of the hotels are 24/7 room service and requesting an extra towel and all that other jazz..... But since this place is like basically another home and it feels almost like an apartment, I believe that having his services stopping at 10:00 p.m. and resume back at 8:00 a.m. is perfect. There were two times that I feel like I was at a friend's house that's how comfortable and relaxing this place was.
Everybody has different tastes, everybody has different needs, and everybody has different wants. You may not agree with me with the five stars, but because of Jerry being a good hearted and a fantastic host I personally believe this place is five stars. It's nice it's quiet and it's perfect for those who want to stay at least a day or two. Oh and the prices is very reasonable. I would find myself staying at this place again in the future.
Oh and Jerry if you're reading this, thanks again for offering to taking me to my dentist appointment. Thank you thank...
Read moreStayed at Sunbeam for one night on a Friday. Doesn't look like much from the outside, although it looks somewhat recently painted. The guy working the office was very friendly and gave us complimentary pastries on our check out, which was nice. He also let us choose either an upstairs or downstairs room.
The room itself was nothing special, and had a faint odd "old motel room" type of smell. It had a fridge, but it was unplugged when we arrived, so not much help there. Don't know if it was intentional go conserve energy or what but what's the point of even having it then, if it has to cool down. There was also an almost bare toilet paper roll still on the rack, although a fresh unopened one sat on top of the toilet.
Pros of the room though was that it was clean, which is #1. No dirty or ripped sheets or sign of bugs. The room had one queen bed and a twin, despite us only asking for the one queen but eh, extra bed who cares. There was also a decent TV in the room hooked up to cable.
Location is great too, just up the street from downtown SLO, definitely walking distance. Just on the other side of the freeway from the university as well.
All in all, as far as independent motels go, this is at the top of the few ive stayed in, and is much better than a majority of the chain ones...
Read moreTERRIBLE! Possible BIOHAZARD observed!! Under the toilet paper roll, it looked like blood and hair. On the bathroom door trim, it looked like another bloody glob. Amenities were advertised, BUT...no bath soap, no cups for water or coffee, only one packet of coffee grounds...why bother? A hair on the hand towel which was too long to belong to my husband or myself...YUCK! Every where you looked, dirt and dust. I covered my pillow with personal clothing because I was not assured by the condition of the room that it was safe to lay my head and face on it otherwise. I never post reviews, but I chose this motel because of the reviews of others which were TOTALLY misleading!!! Smelled bad, too. And the price...with taxes, etc.,. $190. I am always wanting to support entrepreneurs and small business owners, but I also know that giving your customers respect of at least a clean environment if your other amenities are minimal is the least you can do. I am posting this for the benefit of others looking for a place to stay in San Luis Obispo. If cleanliness and minimal amenities are important, this is not the place. I wouldn't even...
