The burritos have really gone downhill
This used to be my hands-down #1 place to grab a burrito in SLO. The burritos were immaculately rolled, full of delicious, perfectly seasoned ingredients. Every ingredient in the burrito was equally distributed throughout, so every bite was the full-on burrito experience.
Something must have changed about six months ago, as every order I’ve placed with them since hasn't been like they used to be. Here is a rundown of each time I’ve gotten an order over the last ~6 months.
Asked for a chicken super burrito and got pork instead of chicken. Took friends who were visiting town to get burritos, which were delicious, but it took 50 minutes to get our order My gf ordered a California veggie California burrito and didn’t get any avocado or veggies (she just got rice, beans, cheese and sour cream). We placed a to go order on the phone and explicitly said to remember the avocado and veggies on the veggie burrito. They gave her avocado, but no veggies. I got pork instead of grilled chicken in my super burrito. I placed an order for two grilled chicken super-burritos and got some other kind of chicken with a red sauce. The cheese was in a big clump at the bottom of one burrito Grilled chicken super burrito was rolled the wrong way, so the first 3 bites were all lettuce, then all rice and beans, and then all of the grilled chicken, which was not well seasoned, at the bottom.
I'll keep trying from time to time, as I really loved the burritos here when they were 100%. Get your mojo back,...
Read moreProbably great if you want mexican food, but can't eat Mexican real food. Nothing has flavor and I don't mean it needs salt. My bfs burrito could have had less. I had a torta and few months back and it was so basic, mayo, soggy lettuce, some watery avocado type spread, meat and toasted bread - but the bread was also soggy at the same time. No chili oil, no fresh avocado, no crisp lettuce, no fresh tomato or onion slices. It was all just flavorless. Nothing like what I have had in the past or come to love. I got tacos this time and they were supposed to be carnitas, but it looked like dried out chopped carne asada pebbles. It wasn't braised or slow cooked, its like they just chopped the pork to death and then cooked it with the same intention. Im just not a fan of this place but some people like that...
Read moreI changed my mind on what I wanted mid order, asking for a carne asada dish and then asking to sub out chicken instead of carne asada. Not a big deal, it happens.
The guy who almost always takes orders proceeded to call me a pendejo to his co-workers, laughing about it.
It's pretty foolish to assume your customers haven't picked up any Spanish while living in California, and it's sad to see someone in customer service be so rude as long as they think you can't understand.
The interaction left a bad taste in my mouth and I'm not planning on going back.
To the management of this place, if you're reading this: have an honest conversation with your workers about expectations of manners and professionalism. The place is casual, but it's really not that hard to not be rude to...
