Sadly, I had to change this from 5 stars to 1. I've been to the South Towne location probably 8 times in the past 2 months after falling in love with it. Today however, I had one of the worst customer experiences of my life. The service was terribly slow as they had what looked like a 10 year old boy at the register. I don't know how they got away with that, but anyway when I got my root beer float, it had maybe half a scoop of ice cream in it because the kid wasn't strong enough to scoop it out. The other employees just watched him struggle. We went back to get more and eventually we got the regular serving size. Everyone in line had to ask for the accompanying dipping sauce which slowed things down and when my wife went to get a bottled soda, they overcharged her and their reasoning for the discrepancy between the menu and the register was just "It's wrong". As you can see in the menu, it's listed as $1.99, but rang up as $2.70 something. My wife took this picture so we could discuss it with someone in charge and the acting manager got very upset and started accusing my wife of being rude. We left a restaurant we go out of our way to visit feeling cheated and mistreated. It's no surprise there are fewer of these than before. I would consider going back if I had an apology from the owner because I felt I was going to be one of their best customers, but I'll just take my business elsewhere for now. :(

Update 10/30/2024 @Sandy, UT: justbately got the monthly melt Reuben. Delicious! ****** Melty Way has upped their game with new sandwich baskets, lining paper, and including napkins when your sandwich is served. This beats pulling it out of a paper sleeve or a paper plate. Today (July 4th), there were 6-7 people behind the counter, more than we have ever seen. One looked like a manager, perhaps training. Our group's three separate orders came out almost simultaneously and we're delicious. This is our first time back to the Shops at South Town location since our frequented Valley Fair location closed. The only change I have noticed over the past year or so in a bummer sort of way is there is no longer a toasty, cheesy crust on the outside of the bread (fontina?) as used to be done. I gave 4 stars for atmosphere because some of the food court seating was torn up, which isn't Melty Way's fault, but it is part of atmosphere. Thanks Melty Way/ Melty for continuing to keep this location open as you expand into other states.

We ordered the chicken avocado and the fajita melt and they were both good. The fajita melt is spicy because of the jalapeño but still tasted good. The fries were crispy and you have to ask for a sauce if you want any (they only have ketchup). They serve the food on a plate that you see at barbecue parties. I would like to try their other menus in the future. The bread was crispy too on the outside. For my meal at least, they put a lot of cheese and other ingredients too. I can't decide which I liked better because both menus were satisfying to me. The customer service was just meh. I think the way they set up their area is similar to Subway because you can see what ingredients they have and they make the sandwich right in front of you.

I had Melty Way food truck come to my wedding, the initial process for booking the truck wasn’t the most professional but I didn’t think too much of it at the time. However when the food truck arrived they did not bring the soup dipper which I had specifically requested and was quoted for. Mistakes happen and The sandwiches were still good without the soup however what upset me the most was the attitude the employees gave my mother in law when she was telling them we had ordered the soup. I, the bride, was off taking photos when they first arrived. So when my mother in law saw they didn’t have the soup she mentioned to them she knew I had ordered it because we had discussed it previously. The guy was extremely rude and said “Well we didn’t bring soup because she specifically said no soup” which was a lie and I have the emails to prove it but he proceeded to say “Do you want us to pack up and leave?” I felt extremely disrespected and they didn’t act a bit remorseful. This was a wedding not some casual corporate event. All they offered as compensation was removing the price of the soup which was only $1 per person. And to top off my dissatisfaction, we ordered 125 plates and only used 95 but not once did they mention that we hadn’t used all that we had ordered nor did they offer to make up the rest of the sandwiches that we had paid for before they left. The food quality is great here but the customer service is...

Coming here in the past I have had great service with the workers here and the food was spectacular from the regular grilled cheese to the chicken avocado sandwich. One special thing about this location as well is that they offer root beer floats that use locally brewed Wasatch root beer and hand scoped ice cream. The people were friendly and the service was exceptional. Fast forward to now I come back with my family from out of town to show them about these great root beer floats and the cool people at the location. To my surprise the person working the ordering station is on his phone, completely zoned out, and not being helpful. After standing for some time he finally spoke up telling us we have to order at the end of the station. After saying I just needed 3 root beer floats he dropped his phone as if it was a struggle to place an order. Then when paying I was given a little attitude which wasn't needed. And the worst part of all of this is when the worker making the root beer floats used Barq's root beer from the tap and did not have a care in the world. Half the battle of being a front facing company like this is to have great customer service. This was not the case and am questioning whether it's worth the time to come here to be given such a...
