The first things that comes to mind is the amount of parking close to the restaurant - plenty. Afterward is the patio area. its 5 or 6 tables but that isn't the highlight. The guests were talking and smiling not only among their own group but to other groups in the patio. This started to set the tone of visit because there is a lot more to talk about. As went inside it was comfortable on a hot day and very clean. The person that was about to take the order was very attentive and genuinely wanted to help but was also very patient, there is a lot of things to choose from. Board and Brew in Santee is a "Order at the counter, get a number, get the drinks and sit down" type restaurant. They are a well oil machine when it comes to taking the order, prepping it, bringing to your table quick. I was impressed with attitude of the employees. They were all business but had the desire to help the customer in any way they could. There was one gentleman who was taking care of the draught beers, he appeared to be managing the crew. It looked like he had been in the food service business before. He was always scanning the customers to see what needed to be done. He would also take the time to have a friendly chat with the the guests to make a new friend. The layout of the restaurant is built for efficiency. there are inside tables and a bar for seating in addition to the patio. Not being a beer drinker I can only say there is a good selection of draught beers. There is also multiple large TV screens. The Padres were playing a game when I was there. Ok now for the food. Spicy Chicken sandwich. Good size good sandwich! The flavor was good but most memorable thing about the sandwich is the spicy-ness. It was more spicy than an Ortega Chile but less than a habanero. After taking a bite of the sandwich the spicy-ness would sneak up on you and stay with you. It did not overpower the sandwich but it was defiantly there.
In summary, I enjoyed my discovery of Board and Brew. I will certainly go back in the future because it is set up as a community gathering location...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is normally a great location with good food. Recently I ordered a sandwich for take out while heading to a meeting then out of town. As I got to the meeting, I unwrapped my turknado on a gluten free wrap and it had zero turkey on it. Just lettuce, guacamole and cheese.
I called the store to tell them and I was told I would have to bring the sandwich back in to prove there was no turkey on it or there was nothing they could do. The gentleman that answered also said this has been happening a lot, that is why proof was required. As I was in a meeting then leaving town, I couldnāt make the trip back to the store.
I wrote an email about this to the posted email on the website with zero response in the weeks since this has happened. I gave them plenty of time to respond before posting this. Unfortunately, seeing as this is a āpersistent problemā and I canāt trust my sandwich to be made with the ingredients that are in the name of the sandwich, I wonāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe come here often because the sandwiches are great. The service is not. The atmosphere is crowded and loud. Today we ordered 6 sandwiches to go instead of eating in. We had to wait a full 20 minutes. Meanwhile I watched as every other person that walked in AFTER us was given their food. When we were finally called the girl said thanks for waiting. I told her it was too long a wait. She replied that they served all the people ordering 1-2 sandwiches first. I saw at least 2 sets of 4 also get served, not counting pick up orders The 1 and 2 sandwiches I counted at 16. There was no apology. Although I like their sandwiches, I will not support a rude...
