Looking for a lively and historic spot to grab a drink in Sarasota? Look no further than The Gator Club. Housed in a building that dates back to the 1920s, The Gator Club has been a local institution for decades. The atmosphere is classic and inviting, with plenty of cozy nooks and crannies to settle into and enjoy your evening. One of the highlights of The Gator Club is the upstairs whiskey bar, which boasts an impressive selection of top-shelf whiskeys from around the world. Whether you're a connoisseur or just looking to try something new, the knowledgeable staff will be happy to guide you through the extensive selection. But The Gator Club is more than just a great place to enjoy a drink. Live music is a staple here, with local and regional acts taking the stage most nights of the week. The acoustics are great, and the energy is always high. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a holiday, The Gator Club has you covered. They throw some of the best block parties in town, complete with live music, drink specials, and plenty of festive decorations. One thing to note is that The Gator Club has been a smoke-free establishment for several years. But don't worry, there's still plenty of room to smoke outside, and you can even bring your drink with you. Overall, The Gator Club is a great spot to relax and have fun. So grab some friends and head over for a night of live music, great drinks, and good times.

Checked out Johnny Diamond at Gators last month and had to stay for their whole show. Loved their retro selection and personal spin. It was busy and happening but not packed. No wait for cocktails, room to hang out, and plenty of dancing. $5 cover was a bargain. Nice to have music that rocks and plays past 11 pm. The Gator Club certainly provides a rare and needed service to the Sarasota community and I thank them. Running a 2 AM dance club with live music (and DJ upstairs) can’t be easy. It gives service industry folk a chance to enjoy weekends as well. Almost every other place is empty and closed before midnight.

An excellent experience for a night out listening to live music. Huge 2 floor establishment that boasts multiple bars and friendly staff. Great live music venue if you are ok with it being a little cramped. Overall, great spot for groups, solo, or a fun date night.

The Gator Club is an absolute gem in every sense of the word! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with an atmosphere that exuded warmth and energy. The staff here are beyond exceptional – friendly, attentive, and truly dedicated to making your experience memorable.

The entertainment at The Gator Club is simply top-notch. Whether it's live music that gets your heart racing or the energetic DJ sets that keep the dance floor alive, you're in for an unforgettable night. The variety of music genres they offer ensures there's something for everyone, making it a perfect spot for a diverse group of friends to enjoy.

Let's talk about the drinks – wow! The bartenders are skilled mixologists, creating cocktails that are not only visually appealing but also bursting with flavor. The menu boasts a delectable array of top notch whiskeys and bourbons, each one more tempting than the last. Whether you're in the mood for a quick drink or a full night of dancing and fun, their atmosphere will leave you craving for more.

What truly sets The Gator Club apart is its commitment to creating an inclusive and vibrant vibe. I've met some incredible people here, both fellow patrons and the staff, who all contribute to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you can strike up a conversation with a stranger and leave with a new friend.

The Gator Club's attention to detail is evident in every aspect, from the thoughtfully designed interior upstairs to the live music downstairs. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable, making it a great spot for both a casual night out and a special occasion.

Whether you're a local looking for your new favorite hangout or a visitor seeking an authentic taste of the city's nightlife, The Gator Club is an absolute must-visit. Five stars without a doubt – this place has it...

Went there during karaoke night and had an absolutely horrible experience. The “emcee” displayed extreme racism as a woman who was not black proceeded to sing the N word multiple times was not stopped or accosted whatsoever.

THEN, the “emcee” (who was a white male) proceeded to say that “the reason I love Japanese women is because they love Mexicans”. He also called the said Mexicans who “loved Japanese women” “Cholos”.

Afterwards, he said “Just Kidding, I hate Mexicans and Asians”.

This is unacceptable under any conditions but especially struck a chord, considering we were attending this “establishment” with our extremely close friend who is of Japanese descent.

When we confronted him after the karaoke night, he literally said nothing and would not face us. His “Co-Emcee” talked to us for a small amount of time claiming that his “Emcee” would never say anything like that, however, once he heard what we had heard (along with others in the bar who heard the same thing) he seemed very concerned and claimed he would address it.

I personally doubt that any conversation will come from this internally given these two have likely been working together for a long time. I told the “Co-Emcee” that I will definitely never see him again but the very least he could do was to tell the “Emcee” to remove his anti-Asian comments from his “set” moving forward.

I would recommend any upstanding citizen or any one who is not a fan of RACISM OF ANY KIND to NEVER return to this establishment until they remove these two BOZOS from being a component of their nightlife.

And if anyone from the GATOR BAR staff is reading this, PLEASE understand that your patrons care about this and deserve more respect than what was...

Should have believed and listened to the other bad reviews. Our experience was not any different.

Horrific service, terrible management, and bouncers always on some sort of power trip. Bouncers/ security doormen were beyond rude. We couldn’t even ask them questions without them threatening to kick us out. We were a group of 5 ladies and were sitting outside and had ordered some drinks. There was a $10 cover to go inside, however we were told to be in the clear as we were sitting outside. We asked our server if we could use the restrooms and she said yes, just to talk to security. A few of us went to ask how we could use the restroom, and bouncers began to yell at us saying we were harassing them and gave zero solutions to how we could use restrooms. Side door bouncers told us to ask the front door bouncers, but once we walked to the front, the side door bouncers had ran to the front and told the front door bouncers not to let us in. Front door bouncers spoke to us as if we were children who did not know how to speak English. At one point they suggested we went to a different restaurant to simply use their bathrooms. We saw several people leave their ID’s with the bouncers to use the restroom inside but for some reason that was not acceptable for our party. Bouncers, managers, and other employees were all staring and talking about us, pointing fingers, etc. An extremely unpleasant experience and will never go back. We will be sure to let everyone else know to never go...
