I always enjoy coming to boomy’s for the award winning wonton soup every time I’m in town. My most recent experience was not the most enjoyable. Music and ambiance was incredible. The doorman eating his fried chicken was funny, made us feel welcomed, and personable. You can forgive back food, but never bad service.. I waited 27 minutes exactly for my soup that I ordered at the same time of my beverage. No apology, the excuse was I kept asking for it but come to find out we are sold out and no one told me. She took it upon herself to bring my Mother doubles without her even ordering another drink. Keeps me card, runs it, comes with the bill and we bring it to her attention u charged us for soup that never came because you didn’t know for 27 minutes there was no soup which was the main reason I came.. waitress tells me my options, I can give you another drink, a gift card for $12, or do a void.. I am going back home tomorrow, have no interest in another drink because u just over served my mother who barely drinks, so I would like a void.. demands my card back… all I was looking for was an I apologize, or I’m sorry for the inconvenience… I understand mistakes, but I don’t appreciate when they are not owned up too. Nothing was done… I live in Charleston so I send people who visit savanah to this establishment mainly because of the wonton soup. I always said I would drives two hours each way in one day just for the soup. I don’t believe I will ever be back, or recommend this place for awhile.. I understand there are bad apples out there, so I will take that into consideration, but sometimes it’s...
Read moreWaited an hour for my food while other customers who came after me got their food first. We were a table of ten which = money and yet we weren’t taken care of at all. We also received an empty spice tray from our waitress which begs the question do they not check their stock before opening? The way this place is ran is amateur at best. At the end we left more than enough to cover the bill in cash on the table and we left the restaurant on foot in search of other food. The bartender chased us down and started to yell frantically how we can’t “leave the bill and not pay.” Why didn’t she or the waiter check the table first before panicking? And then to chase us and tell us we’re rude for leaving and that it’s so unbelievable. As a customer you don’t need to wait for anyone serving you if you cover your tab you can leave. Like I said amateur at best. I never leave reviews online but I’m making an exception for this place. Stay away from them unless if you enjoy waiting forever for your food and being served by self entitled brats who whine even when they’re blatantly wrong...
Read moreEh. Went in for late night bite to eat, and door man/bouncer shook down a friend of mine for $40 to let in one lady with the group of us 8 who did not have her ID with her. 40 year old lady with our group that were all well over minimum drinking age.
I'd be OK if he wouldn't have allowed her in without her ID, and we all would have selected another establishment to spend our money with. However, pressuring someone in our group to give him a bribe is totally unacceptable. I learned of it after the fact.
Service was ok, but no IPA beer available at all. The drink I selected as my second choice was incorrect, and I had to get that corrected by my own volician.
Food selection was limited to almost solely Thai choices, which seemed odd for an American pub & grill. The food seemed to taste ok, but by the next morning, I had dysentery.
Not too surprising after thinking about the cleanliness of the establishment to be far from acceptable.
Maybe just one bad night for them? But there were enough issues that I won't give them...
