I recently visited Jojo Coffeehouse in Scottsdale, excited to try out their renowned menu and experience a delightful dining atmosphere. Unfortunately, my visit left me deeply disappointed and disturbed by the restaurant's apparent racist behavior and unbelievably slow service, despite the food being visibly ready.
Upon arriving at Jojo Coffeehouse, I was greeted with a cold reception that set the tone for the rest of my dining experience. The staff seemed disinterested and unwelcoming, and it became evident as the evening unfolded that they treated certain customers differently based on their ethnicity. Witnessing this discriminatory behavior was disheartening and wholly unacceptable in a modern society that champions diversity and inclusivity.
Adding to my frustration was the abysmally slow service. Despite observing trays of prepared food behind the counter, it took an excruciatingly long time for my order to be taken and even longer for it to arrive at my table. This lack of efficiency and disregard for customers' time left me questioning whether the staff valued their patrons' satisfaction at all.
The blatant contrast between the ready food on display and the lethargic service only added to the sense of injustice I felt during my visit. It seemed as though the staff prioritized certain customers over others, leading to an unpleasant dining experience for many, myself included. Such disparities in treatment are inexcusable and tarnish the reputation of the restaurant.
The disappointing behavior exhibited by the staff overshadowed the potential enjoyment I could have had with the food at Jojo Coffeehouse. Despite the dishes eventually arriving at my table, the experience had already been marred by the disrespectful treatment and inefficiency, leaving a bitter taste in my mouth that no culinary delight could erase.
In conclusion, my visit to Jojo Coffeehouse in Scottsdale was marred by what appeared to be racist behavior and painfully slow service. The staff's disregard for customer satisfaction and the disparities in their treatment of patrons based on ethnicity are utterly unacceptable. While I had hoped to enjoy a delightful dining experience, the restaurant failed to live up to its reputation and left me questioning whether I would ever return. I implore the management to take immediate action to address these issues and create a more inclusive and efficient environment for...
Read moreHasn't been in before and because it was a coffee house and we wanted a good cup of coffee, we went here. Coffee was horrible at best. Not only did it taste bad, but a small 6oz cup was $3.75. Took forever for someone to approach us to take our order. Finally got some water and was told by one waiter that our waiter would be over soon. Our waiter was Trevor and Trevor clearly didn't want to wait on us. Seemed very inconvenienced at our table. Decided on the traditional breakfast, asked if I could replace the potatoes and was told I could get toast. Asked if there were any other options and I was told I could have extra meat or eggs. I opted for the extra eggs. Plate was $14 for 2 eggs, 3 pieces of bacon and less than 1/4 avocado. I did get 1 extra egg (vs the 2 I thought I'd get since potatoes or 2 eggs were the same price). While ordering I asked Trevor if the eggs were cooked in butter. Trevor said no they use oil. I asked if they could cook my eggs in butter instead of oil and his response was "No I don't think we even have butter".🤦♀️ Clearly not truthful as the person I was with ordered pancakes that came with 2 packs of butter and everyone else ordering toast was provided with butter and jelly. The food wasn't bad (eggs were oily), it was served hot on a clean plate with clean silverware. Service after we got the food was non existent. Trevor did stop by once to ask if we were ok. No smile, no interest. When we were finally done, he came by to quickly rattle off our receipt that he had dropped in water, took our credit card, literally shoved his tablet in my husband's face telling him to pick a tip and checkout. Husband had to pull himself back from the tablet to be able to see anything. While there was a custom option for tip at the end, the tip prompts started with 18%. My husband was much more generous than I would have been. But we spent $50 on 2 breakfast plates and 2 cups of coffee. Oh and the side of pancakes that came with the 2 pats of butter (Trevor claimed they didn't have) were $9! Only good thing I can add is that the music they...
Read moreWe came on a Sunday morning at 10:20 with a party of 5 (3 adults 2 children). Checked in and there was already a line waiting. We were told that it was an hour wait. So we waited, but we were actually checked in, within 20min. Not sure how that happened bc the line that was here before us were still waiting for a table (maybe it’s bc we had kids? Idk).
Anyways, the atmosphere was aesthetically pleasing. It was very open, airy and chill. Very cute. Small place though. We enjoyed live music (at 11am) from covers such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and similar artist.
Service was awesome! Our waiter was very attentive especially giving how busy it was.
Food was alright but not great. It was pretty basic. The kids ordered the kids plate which came with eggs, sausage, fruits and pancakes. I ordered the strawberry cream pancake and my daughter ordered the banana foster French toast. The best food out of all our order was the Banana Foster hands down. The caramel w/ pecan was amazing! Think…Caramel Pecan Cinnabon. That’s what it tasted like. Extremely sweet but sooo yummy! My Strawberry Cream pancakes were good, nothing to rave about though. The mascarpone whipped cream really was different in a really good way! Portions are average (which I appreciate). As for portion size, if you’re used to those huge serving platters for an order of 1 patron at your typical brunch place…then this place ain’t it. You won’t be taking any leftovers home. The portion here is petite but still filling.
We didn’t order any drinks, just water and OJ. Price was reasonable at $80ish.
We sat in the booth in the back and we were being bothered by flies. It was annoying to try to enjoy our food and slap ourselves bc a fly landed on your face.
Overall I don’t think this place is worth the hype. It’s cute, aesthetically pleasing and beautiful. But I would probably not wait for more than 20min for a table. It truly wasn’t worth it to us.
My tip would be to order the Banana...
