Let me start this story with, I have a severe blood glucose disorder, and my glucose decided to take a dive, I had to find the nearest place possible to get food and some sugar into my system before I crashed... Now my story begins about this highway robbery establisment. I have never been more in shock over the price of a meal than this one. I ordered a half a sandwich, mind you I asked the waitress to suggest something that I could get quickly and also I had never been there. We decided on a turkey sandwich. Due to medical reasons I was unable to have any of their sides and I had opted for 1/2 sandwich. Let me explain this so you can picture my plate. On this large plate, I had one piece of bread cut in half, very and I mean very little turkey, one small piece of romane lettuce, and a tiny container with about a tablespoon or less of cranberry sauce, and no sides. The sandwich was okay, nothing I would write home to brag about for sure. My daughter ordered a french dip sandwich with french fries and we both had "ONE" cup of coffee, no refills. I get the bill and it was $41.00 and some change. I looked at my meager meal price and it was $13.50. I went to pay for it and asked the hostess/cashier if that was correct and explained it was nuts to charge that much for $1.00's worth of food. He said he would try and discount it. He went to the "manager" and she told him no. So I asked to speak with her and she came up and shrugged her shoulders saying she was just the manager and she didn't set the prices. I said looking at the menu then, for $1.00 more I could have a whole sandwich and a side...... I asked her to get it for me. She shrugged her shoulders again and walked away, not asking which side I would like. I paid the bill and walked out. I have no idea if they went after the sandwich or not, I hope they did and they looked at another wasted plate worth $13.50 and they had to throw it away. NEVER will I suggest this place, nor will I ever eat...
Read moreUpdate from 2024 trip: This trip around to Pig-n-pancake was not as great as the last experience. They were pretty busy, the service was lacking a bit, but our server did still do well. My son loved his classic cheeseburger. He said the fries were a little too crispy for his liking, but that’s just his preference. If you like crispy fries, IMO, they were good. My husband ordered the blintzes, he said they were good. My brother enjoyed the French dip. I ordered the same as last time. Eggs Benedict with Dungeness crab, it was really good, the eggs were hard poached, so not as runny as I like. But the flavor was good. Possibly an off day. No big deal. The presentation was a little less than likable. But, overall, it was a decent experience. Would still recommend. Dropped one star just for the complaints from my family, etc.
Review from 2021: Pig-n-pancake is a “must eat” when we are in Seaside! The service is always amazing, we had an incredible server named Bronda, and our food was SO good as always! She made sure to check in on us frequently, without being overbearing! She had a great sense of humor, and was very personable! They have a Dungeness crab eggs Benedict that is to die for! The serving of crab on the Benedict was a healthy amount! There were even some larger chunks of crab leg in there. The egg was perfectly poached on one of the half’s, the other one was a hard poach, but that’s okay. Bronda said that she didn’t feel like they gave me enough hollandaise sauce so there was a side of it on my plate when she brought it to me. She solved a problem before it even had a chance! Thanks girl :) anyway, of all the breakfast places along the coast, 10/10 recommend Pig-n-pancake! Also, I wish they had one in idaho! Oh, I almost forgot, I tasted my nephews fish & chips.. his fish was a little dry tasting, but y may have just been that it had been sitting for a while. Or that I ate it without tartar sauce. The flavor was...
Read moreWhat can I say? This place is iconic for a reason.
My family have been coming here since I was a girl. It was my hubby's first time.. Its not super fancy but definitely fills you up.
I do think it has gotten more overpriced lately but I also think that is just how it is now a days.
I got the smaller appetite French toast, egg and sausage ($14.50). Hubby got the ham with egg, hash brown and sourdough ($18.75 - that one was hard to justify). Got one cake to split with each other ($3) and both got coffee ($4 each).
The French toast was small but delicious. It came with a strawberry compote (brought in) and I put that sh*t on everything. My egg was scrambled and you could tell it was from a jug, it was edible. I was not a huge fan of the sausage was too dense for me but my hubby ate it down.
Ham was a good portion slab with great flavor. We both loved the hash brown. Perfectly cooked and not overly greasy. Sourdough was thick and toasted well (I ate most of his toast.. So good).
Pancake was amazing. Cooked well and great flavor. Put the strawberry on there also.. No syrup needed.
Coffee was acceptable. I would not say it was the best cup of joe but it was fresh and not bitter so I will take it.
The restaurant itself is clean and spacious. Has a cute gift shop attached to it. The waitstaff and bussers are super nice and attentive.
Overall, I am happy with the experience. WE both got stuffed. I think it is an an iconic part of Seaside. And a great go to if you want a no...
