I visited this morning (9/4/25), I was excited to try it as it's right by my apartment. The services was pretty horrible... after I ordered my food, I sat and waited and I overheard the Bad Chancla worker behind the counter complaining :/ranting to a customer about a previous customer that apparently had "no awareness" because the customer wanted to chat with the service worker while they made their food. Apparently according to the worker at Bad Chancla a customer wanting to chat with them was extremely annoying and an inconvenience (do I need to remind yall that you're restaurant is in a neighborhood and regulars are going to want to talk to you guys?) As a customer I felt uncomfortable overhearing this rant, and I feel bad for the customer that they were ranting to, as it clearly made them and everyone else in the restaurant feel unwelcomed. Which is crazy because this restaurant is literally in a populated neighborhood, so I guess my advice to future customer's is don't make conversation with the worker's at Bad Chancla if you don't want to be talked about after you leave!
The disrespectful attitude towards customer's extends to people who share their honest opinion about the restaurant! Each low review on here is met with extreme rudeness and combativeness instead of trying to understand the issue. Is this ya'lls first restaurant? Lol.
Start taking accountability for your horrible food and stop hiding behind the fact that you're a small business.
Furthermore, the sandwich I bought was soggy and flavorless even though it was made fresh. It was kinda shocking how poorly it was made because it took awhile.
Maybe you guys should go back to the basics of "Abuela's"...
Read moreThere is a deep humor and irony in going to a place with Bad in its name, and ordering a "cubano" sandwich called "Fake ass", and ending up with it actually being exactly what was advertised and not in a fun way. Two thin slices of deli meat in a kid's size sandwich. Overwhelmingly cloying sweet. I still have that sickly taste in the back of my mouth after months that spurred me to write this review I should've written before. For more than 15 dollars. The pork had some gamey off-taste to it that happens when the fats in it denature and go rancid. And it all turns into a mush as you eat it. When you compare that to what you get at Un Bien for a similar price, it's laughable.
Seattle really is one of the worst food cities. Just the most mediocre expensive food 80% of the time and the remaining 20% when the food is decent it still leaves you unsatisfied with the cost. Yeah yeah, cost of living. Spare me. I'd rather have nothing than get scammed over...
Read moreI can't wait to try everything at Bad Chancla! This time we had the pan con mechada and the vegan picadillo. A French dip has nothing on Bad Chancla's pan con mechada, panini-pressed with perfect amounts of crunch and dripping-soaked bits. And we were glad that Bad Chancla's vegan option didn't short us on flavor. When I do prefer a plant-based option, I wouldn't hesitate on it.
After our meal, the chef gave us a complimentary pollo guisado to-go. It was my favorite of the three. I meant to have it with some tortillas, but I ended up eating it all by itself. Melt-in-your-mouth tender, but more importantly it felt like being invited into someone's childhood memories.
This might not be your abuela's cooking, but it's made with so much love and heart. I can't believe we've slept on on this gem of the Hill...
