I’ve never reviewed anywhere on Google before, but I have been a such a long time fan of Bake shop and I’ve been so disappointed recently that I felt like saying something.
First off, their bakery items are spectacular and the coffee is so fantastic, so I definitely recommend those.
However the food is SO bad recently. It seems like they went from making each sandwich/toast fresh per order to just making everything ahead of time and pulling it out of the fridge. The quality of the meals has gone down so much. The most recent time I went I got the veggie toast; there were almost no veggies (it used to be piled so high you couldn’t see the bread and was FABULOUS), it was COLD, and there was a fully uncooked clove of garlic sitting on it (see pictures)!
The last several times I’ve ordered any of the sandwiches/toasts, they’ve been completely cold and honestly, just taste worse, to the point where I haven’t finished them. It also seems like they don’t come with the side salads or chips anymore but cost the same, which is so small but again just makes everything seem more disappointing. I had hoped it was a one-off issue, but this most recent time was the third experience like this.
Overall the meal quality is so low now and it’s disappointing, since I have loved this place for years. But the baked goods, coffee, and FOH servers are all still so wonderful and lovely, so I can still recommend those! Just don’t go here for a meal. I hope they can...
Read moreThis place offers one of THE BEST veggie toast I had in Seattle and they serve amazing coffee too!
We came here on a Thursday afternoon around 2pm. The place is spacious, welcoming and not crowded. We were able to find parking right next to the coffee shop.
We ordered a Veggie Toast and a latte and I was pleasantly surprised. The veggies were roasted perfectly, topped with fresh dill and the toast was warm with the perfect crunchiness. Perfect in the sense that it was crunchy but not overly done that cuts your mouth. They also seasoned the toast with some flaky salt on top. The toast was flavorful, balanced and seasoned perfectly.
As for the latte, it was delicious too. It was aromatic, not too sweet, not too bitter, just perfect.
The only downside about this coffee shop is the wifi. We had issues with the connectivity with both of our devices. The Internet cut out intermittently for our normal browsing (reading NYTimes, Reddit, etc).
All in all, I would highly...
Read moreI’ve been to Bake Shop probably half a dozen times and each time I’ve had a very positive experience. The focaccia du jour has been creative and delicious each time I’ve gotten it, and the miso chocolate cookie was unbelievably scrumptious.
This last time I steered away from the bake case and got their breakfast sandwich. It was absolutely phenomenal. The pickled daikon, creamy mayo sauce, egg patty speckled with treasures, and fat slices of ham came together to create a sandwich that was well balanced and a steps ahead of other breakfast sandwiches I’ve had. The crown jewel definitely had to be the bread; my God, the chew followed by the soft give was heavenly. Clearly this bread and this sandwich were made by people who put thought and care into their creations. 10/10.
Plus I got a Olipop soda on a whim. 35% daily fiber and it actually tasted good?!?!? This guy in his 30s was thoroughly pleased with his adult choice.
Well done, Bake Shop. Keep up the...
