Really great place fir American-style Mexican food. I liced in Mexico City and the Riviera Maya for 13 years, so Mexican food to me has to have the authenticity it should have. Plus, I had eateries in Mexico and know the foods. For American-style or Tex-Mex, this place is great. I did not have everything on the menu and hope to go back.
I had chile relleno and a shredded beef tamale, both were definitely Tex-Mex but absolutely delicious! My friend has chicken in cream sauce with zucchini and that was excellent. The beans and rice were typical and good. The tortillas fresh and warm, and perfect, fresh salsa. I suspect the meats were precooked, I know the look and flavor, but it wouldn't matter as both dishes were huge, also utterly Tex-Mex, but wonderful! Oh, grab a flan, too! Mmmmm!
The atmosphere was stellar to me, all Mexican style and decor... and pure Latin music that my friend said I was singing or humming along to , sll made me feel like I was back in Mexico, where I often feel I belong.
Lovely Hispanic waitress or server, delightful, attentive, friendly and helped make it a more authentic visit!
To be fair. I have never had Mexican food in the U.S. that I would call authentic. Mexico's own national and local ingredients are not comparable to here ehen prepping Mexican foods, no matter what someone says to make you think otherwise. So, my 5 stars is a notable one here and you should just go there expecting excellent Mexican foods prepared in the states and eat and drink in a full, Mexican atmosphere!
And, if you're ever in Mexico City, go to The Plaza Garibaldi and feast on everything there, including the world famous mariachis! Lordy! What eye candy there!

Read moreCraving a little Mexican but not really knowing what to expect, we went to Plaza Girabalidi on a wet Seattle Friday night. The place was modestly busy - enough people to make it feel well-liked but no so busy that we had to wait - and got seated immediately.
We were immediately presented with a medium-spicy salsa, warm chips AND pico de gallo. I haven't had pico that tasty and fresh either ever, or in a long time. There was something a little magical about the combo of onions, jalapeno, peppers, garlic, a few other things and a touch of lemon juice.
Browsing the menu knowing that Seattle is known for fresh seafood, I opted for the shrimp and octopus soup. I've had this before, usually in a rich, thick tomato based stock. This one was in a much thinner soup which I found much nicer because the tomato flavor didn't overpower the seafood.
My husband had the pork abodabo with chile rellenos, beans and rice. The pork chop was a little dry, but the chiles were really good. Often they are overstuffed with cheese, these were light on cheese which made them tasty and not too chewy.
Our waitress started the evening in Spanish, probably what she does in every first encounter, then switching to English. I engaged her in Spanish and she continued speaking in Spanish for the rest of the evening. I speak passable Spanish and I appreciated the opportunity for a...
Read moreHuge plates of food! If your hungry or looking to share one meal and save this place is the way to go. There's free chips and salsa at the beginning which is a plus. The environment is like a Mexican pub= lots of character. We ordered Los Tres Amigos which was pork, chicken, and chille relleno. The chile relleno was overbreaded with bread that tasted a bit stale but other than that very good food. The meat was great that we actually liked. They have huge TV screens but the people there at the time we went we're so loud and obnoxious. I understand they are at the bar cheering for a game but if they are the only ones and there's families on the other side of a glass door trying to talk and eat, staff should've asked to keep it down just a bit. I'm hardly ever bothered with noise. And my husband easy going to but the noise was obnoxious enough to resonate through the entire place. This probably won't ever happen again because the likelyhood of those same people coming back to that one bar is not too high. Haven't heard them there before. My...
