šŸ«Top 9 Spots in Seattle for the Coziest Winter Hot Chocolate

First, I want to say that for YEARS, I would always walk right by this place; too fancy, probably overrated, too expensive for me. Let me say now, I can be so very wrong sometimes. I saw this place on an episode of How It's Made where they talked about candy. This lady knows what she's doing!! If you are going to indulge and consume the calories, why not get the best? I also got a dark chocolate bar which I haven't tried yet but I'm so excited because the site said they were sold out, they are not people! I keep a bar of dark chocolate in my purse at all times, break off chunks and savor them as needed. It's medicine, as far as I'm concerned. I'm currently eating an Almond Goldbite and dayum, its an amazing experience. Usually I don't like caramel, it's too sweet and it hurts my teeth, but these are perfect is every way. Oh yeah, I got three different high-quality products, best 16 bucks I have ever spent! The employees were incredibly kind and friendly, the guy at that cashier gave me a free caramel on my way out!! I might be a nerd, but I love a pretty bag too! 🄰 I will be returning here again very soon! Update 10/4/2022- I have now tried the PureBar 68% Dominican Dark Chocolate and I happened to have my old reliable purse treasure, Theo 70% Dark Chocolate so I gave them a side-by-side comparison and taste test. I declare, at least for my own taste buds, Theo as the winner. Fran's is darker and shinier but it has a less desirable aftertaste. They both have a pretty similar mouthfeel. Theo is 2% darker but maybe its the source of their beans?! I just know that for me, Theo has this warm, almost cinnamon finish, that is just lovely. I will be returning to Fran's for caramels though and that's their specialty anyway. šŸ˜‰

Gourmet chocolate shop across the Seattle Art Museum. Came here in the afternoon and there was no line. Masks are required. Credit cards are accepted. No public restrooms available. The store is connected to the Four Seasons lobby, so you can drink your hot chocolate in their lobby (you can’t drink it in Fran’s). Came here to buy some presents as well as try the drinking chocolate. The employee who assisted us was not particularly helpful - she didn’t greet us when we walked into the store, didn’t offer to answer any questions or provide any recommendations, and told us that the menu was ā€œbasicā€ when we told her that we wanted to take a look at the drink options. It made for a rather uncomfortable experience. The chocolate itself was good and you do get a free sample. The chocolate caramels seemed to be the most popular offering. The truffles I got did keep well over two days when I flew back to LA and gave them to my friends. Frans does offer online orders with shipping.

Really disappointed. I have been a loyal customer for years. Every time I visit, i easily drop $150-200 in chocolate. I Came in here today and had the rudest girl with short curly hair who barked at me and my family for not being in line. We were in line. All of us. She wasn’t paying attention after I was called up as it was my turn, and she barked at us to go back into the line. My family ended up leaving upset and I stayed because I’m not from here. I live in another state. I bought way less chocolate than I was planning too because she was so rude. Next time, ask who is together in a line before being rude. Her tone and her presence put a bad taste in this experience. Got in the car with my family and everyone was upset as they have been to Frans before and was never treated like that.Their chocolate is amazing but the short curly haired girl that works there makes me never want to come back again. Their espresso machine was also broken today so I wasn’t able to get their drinking chocolate that I love. Curly haired girl had no patience for that either with me. I do appreciate their manager hearing the conversation and giving me some coupons for drinking chocolate next time. After this experience, it really ruined my love for frans. Absolutely heartbreaking experience. Dont think I’ll...

Update: Frans reached out after our visit and truly went out of their way to make things right. We’ve always loved their chocolate, and this reminded us why we’ve been loyal online customers for years. While the in-store experience wasn’t what we hoped for, we’ll happily continue enjoying their treats from the comfort of our home. We usually purchase from Frans online but since we were in the neighborhood decided to pop in and get our usual treats. Samples at the door were great however it all went downhill fast, chocolate figs not in stock, staff seemed rushes and confused all though we were the only ones in the store, they got our order wrong which created a very confusing and unpleasant situation by the staff - the I believe supervisor said I lied regarding what we usually order online to one of the staff - I showed the order, staff apologized profusely while not even looking at me, we had to make 2 purchases to account for their mistake and our discomfort - they offered to refund the mistake but at that point we just wanted to get out of there. Great chocolate, horrid customer service, will not be stopping by...
