Been hitting this place up on and off for a while now. I think it performs the rare dual function of "neighborhood living room" and "special place to go on a night out." It's the kind of place where I go to get some work done on my laptop, but I'll also take friends there if I want to treat them. The vibe really depends on time of day, obviously. 4-6PM is very chill. From there on out it can get more lively.
The overall ambience is airy yet cozy. The building is set into a hillside, but high ceilings keep things from feeling too claustrophobic. There are good seats by the windows as well as a cute sidewalk-facing patio. The street outside is pretty quiet, but allows for decent people-watching.
A lot of people will talk about their upscale crunchwraps, and those are absolutely a must-eat feature. The food is all good. Eat all the food! What I want to highlight specifically is how good that place smells. It's like walking into someone's home kitchen during holiday meal prep.
The staff are courteous and attentive but not like overbearing. They seem good at matching energy. Never had anything less than a stellar experience with everyone I've...
Read moreThis is my favorite bar in Seattle so it is about time I write a review. I come here often and when I tell you I dream about the crunchywraps, I am not joking. The aesthetic is a cozy vibe, the food is delicious, the drinks are always a hit, and the prices are very reasonable. I tell everyone I know about this place!
We stopped in again last night to get our crunchywrap fix and got to try some of the new SUPER CUTE holiday drinks. Definitely try the North Bend Shovel Slayer for the most instagrammable drink! (We didnât get to try it because the foam wasnât working but we will be back again to try this one soon!) We got the Kevin! and the Kenosha Kickers which were both cute and delicious. They make some of the best, unique cocktails here! As an example, on a visit several months ago, one of the drinks came with a little hotwheels car. You must check...
Read moreI was with a large group, individual checks. Service was polite, friendly, knowledgeable but it seemed like we had to call staff to the table instead of being checked on. But I think there was only the one wait staff person for the whole restaurant too. The drinks were good. I had a bowl of the mushroom soup and the browned butter bread with sage. The combination was heavenly. They serve as small plates & bring food out as it is ready. I would have liked to have known that as the bread took several minutes longer to bake. But it was a fun evening. No one had any complaints about their dishes. & we felt welcome as a large group. I would certainly return. Oh! Returning... apparently within just a few blocks on Roy, there are three 1st Ave intersections- East, West & North. Be sure to verify...
