My wife and I came to this location because it's a family tradition to eat Indian food on Thanksgiving. We were really excited to try the food and travelled specifically to eat at this location. Upon arrival, my wife and I saw two tables of 2 or 3 people who were already seated near the window close to the entrance, and there were several tables that were still available for us to sit. We already decided we want to dine in. When we got to the ordering section, one of the cooks in the back handed us menus and said to us, "to go"? I responded by saying no, we would like to dine-in. He kept saying to us "you mean to-go?", and then whispered that it was only him and one other person in the kitchen. I didn't understand how that would've affected us dinning-in. Especially since others were seated and the restaurant was not crowded and we were the only new people to walk into the restaurant.
I'm not the one to jump to assumptions, but the people who were already seated and eating were Caucasian and my wife and I are African American. It was clear that we were being descrinminated against. I decided I no longer wanted to order food and told my wife let's go! As we started to walk out, he tried to see if we were going to order. I said no!
If you are black and reading this review, please consider other Indian restaurants that value all races equally! This was a special travel that we both looked forward to, and resulted in us being descriminated against and not treated equally to the other patrons who were seated and...
Read moreJust off pike place, we stumbled upon this place when walking back to the main road. We came in, no greeting from the guy at the counter, asked if we could get a table, seated ourselves, were given paper menus and then waited 5 mins, was clear no one was coming to take our order so we went up to order ourselves. If you are going to be a restaurant as well, you need to wait on customers, unless specified differently somewhere. The food was very cheap for somewhere in a prime location but the drink, they wanted $9 for a 330ml of Indian beer. That’s excessive!
Same guy that was at the counter, went back and cooked the food, came out within 10-15 mins. Chicken Vindaloo spice level 5, I’ve been many places before that don’t want to give you it HOT even when you order it that hot, this place was happy to do so. Great food, full of flavour and spice, Garlic naan was also well cooked. I really enjoyed it. Partner had chicken tikka masala which was also, full of chicken and flavour. Food was 5/5 and for the price. Superb value.
The place could do with being a little livened up a little, it’s very dark and dated in there, they also need to be a little more hospitable.
Would return just because of value for money...
Read moreThis is my FAVORITE Indian restaurant in all of Seattle! Why? Because it's a cross between great food, reasonable prices, and good service.
The food: I've had their naan, samosas, veg pakora, chicken curry, chicken vindaloo, daal soup, chicken saag, and aloo gobi. My favorite is the chicken vindaloo. The chicken is very tender, and the dish is very flavorful. The potatoes are also very tender, and unlike most Indian restaurants in Seattle, hot means hot!
Service: The service is great! I can't believe how quickly they could bring food out - especially since I've gone in while they're slow and know they make everything fresh to order.
Prices: Very reasonable prices for an Indian restaurant in Seattle - especially for downtown. Portion sizes are just a little on the small side but not bad at all!
Atmosphere: While the place may not have the best or upper end ambiance, I think it's quite nice. It is a bit more of a hole in the wall, but it still feels nice inside and you can look out their window and see...
