I enjoyed the fruit tea I got from Yi Fang. I lucked out and visited on a Tuesday evening when there were only a couple people inside and no line. When I left 30 minutes later there was a line of 10-15 people. This was my first time visiting, so I decided to get the fruit tea since it’s in the name of place. I got the medium size fruit tea with 30% sugar and less ice. Maybe it’s because I have old man taste buds but I probably could have gotten 0% sugar and been satisfied with the sweetness level. Also just to note, this is not a knock against them, but I wanted some boba but they said they couldn’t add boba in a medium size fruit tea because the fruit take up a lot of space in the cup. Overall, the flavor of the tea was really good – mellow and sweet but refreshing. After I finished the drink I added more water to get even more juice. Another thing to note is the price. The medium I got was $5.25 before tax which is not a negligible sum and chose to pay cash because of the $0.30 surcharge for credit card purchases under $10. I don’t seem myself going very often, but I enjoyed the drink I had...
Read moreYifang has GREAT fruit tea, but milk tea, not really. The boba pearls are very good though. Here's what I have tried so far: Matcha brown sugar boba latte: 2/10 Matcha was very gritty and bitter and not at all like the picture, muddy colored and definitely very cheap matcha. Other locations have better quality. If you are used to Starbucks quality matcha (which is also unsweetened) for instance, this is orders of quality below that in terms of taste. Milk tea: 5/10 Nice mellow black tea but way too much creamer. I noticed they just spoon many tablespoons of coffeemate creamer into the cup, which is not healthy (which i know is common at most boba shops) but their milk tea was lackluster at best, and too creamy. Fruit tea: 9.5/10 Very refreshing and the best flavor so far. Sometimes the apple chunks are too big to drink through the straw though. The sugar is very high also, even at 30% sugar sweeter than most places and almost unpleasantly so. Dont get this with boba btw since the crunchy passionfruit seeds clash with...
Read moreI'm not sure what is going on with this place. During one of the worst heat waves this year (98+ F degree), the restaurant inside was even HOTTER than outside. That is insane! Poor workers!
We went inside hoping to get some much needed AC relief after walking 2 miles in the heat, but to our surprise, the inside of the shop was way warmer than outside. The employees were drenched in sweat. It was stuffy. We don't know how they were alive. Why is there no AC???? Why are there no fans????
The drinks also tasted off compared to the ones we had in International District from the same chain, Yi Fang. Like the fruit tasted old or something - not surprising because the fruits were probably kept at very unsafe temperatures during this heat wave if the store feels so hot. It felt like it was over 100 F degrees in there.
I honestly feel bad for the employees. They looked like they were dying of heat exhaustion.
I wouldn't come back here again given how they are treating their employees and safety...
