Cailloux Cheese Shop — Local services in Solvang

My boyfriend and I originally came here to buy a drink to go with our breakfast; we had our masks on and were following proper social distancing rules. We went outside to sit down and eat after purchasing our drink. Once we sat down, this lady who I assume was the owner, speed walked up to us and started screaming at us. She told us to read the sign which we had not noticed at first. We agreed to leave and she continued to yell at us, saying we’re obviously not from this town and she doesn’t know who we think we are but we cannot eat there. She then pointed to a park across the street as she continued to interrogate us and berate us after we had already apologized and said we would leave. She did not stop yelling at us until we were walking away. :(

I don’t know what her problem was, but she was so unnecessarily aggressive toward me and my boyfriend. If I could give this place negative stars just because of that...

We liked our food & experience here, we ordered a small cheese plate with prosciutto, I would've preferred they ask us what type of cheese we like instead of picking for us, my boyfriend prefers their way, so all good there. This is the first time I've seen a baby bell pepper and it was really good, not sure if it's a special one or just a regular bell pepper but smaller.

We had a nice, relaxing lunch. The cheese selection was good, we ordered the onion soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. We will go again next time visiting Solvang.

Keep in mind they have limited parking, we parked in the public parking lot that was like 3 minutes away...

I hate to say this but I was pretty disappointed with this place. Honestly, mostly the service and the cheese selection with the wine pairings. The wine was good! But the choices of cheese pairings were all hard cheeses :( There was one that was just not good at all. And I’m sorry to say but when inquiring about the wine and cheese pairings, the girl at the front counter did not know anything about the cheese or wine when asked about it. She literally had said, I don’t know about wine. You work in wine country! I might come back and try different cheeses and wine but they might want to hire other people that are more knowledgeable about...
